Advice on Tight Regulation

Missy has been on Lantus for 1.5 months. Her numbers are are a little all over the place but mostly yellow. I just raised from 0.75 to 1 unit and her numbers changed quickly. +4- 67, +4.5- 61, +5- 70, +6- 86, +7- 94, +8- 139
Should i stick with this dose or drop back down to 0.75 unit.
Also is it normal that her lowest point is often early (around +4).?

Spreadsheet is in signature.

Welcome to you. You need to give permission for us to see your spreadsheet. Those are wonderful numbers but to advise we need to see the whole picture. With TR you reduce if there’s a bg drop under 50. Id live to help once I see your spreadsheet.

sorry... still trying to figure all this out. I believe i fixed it so you can see.

On TR, Missy didn't earn a reduction yet....she'd need to drop below 50 (2.8) on a human meter.

How much time before PMPS? If you can, it would be good to get a +11 or +11.5 so that IF she happens to still be running a little lower than usual, we'll know if she's climbing or falling at PMPS.

I think she's probably going to bounce and it'll be fine to go with the 1U dose again tonight, but let's see where she's at when you test.

She is at 14.9/268 45minutes before shot time (i delayed this moring so im sticking with the same time tonight then will try to get back to regular time slowly)

So she needs to go hypo on her nadir (which might anywhere between +3 and +7) ☹or have a pre shoot number below 9???

2.8 isn't a "hypo"....it's a low normal number. A cat's blood glucose should be between 2.8 and 6.7. And as you gather more data and experience, you'll actually learn to shoot lower and lower PS numbers. I got to where I'd shoot China if she was at 2.8. (feel free to look at her spreadsheet but it's in US numbers)

TR is an aggressive protocol, but it also gives the best chance at remission. The sooner you can get the numbers into normal range, the better her chance at healing her pancreas so it can heal and hopefully start working again.

But it does sometimes take nerves of steel! But remember, as long as you have plenty of supplies and can test as often as you want to, YOU are in charge of her blood glucose.

We don't consider a low number to be a "hypo" unless you see signs of hypoglycemia like acting drunk, blind, weak, twitchy. It's just a difference in nomenclature

She doesn’t need to go hypo. Her bg just needs to fall under 50 to earn a reduction.

Ok. Sorry im still learning i thought below 50 was hypo and at that point i was suppose to give syrup and high carb foods. Im going to read the notes again on all this. I swear i have twice... i'm just a little overwhelmed and nervous.

ok.... so even if she goes low (below 50's ) i dont need to react.... just watch. Then if she shows signs of an issue then i give syrup and gravy food. (I found her hypo before years ago before i was testing so i have experience unfortunately... but i prefer to avoid it.)
Is there a pretty good chance that i will have to deal with it again???
Also, do i just post on this thread again fo advice in the next few days?

No problem. There’s a big difference between a symptomatic hypo and low numbers. People often will say a cat has gone hypo and thankfully rarely is it a symptomatic hypo thank goodness. Whenever you get a number lower than , it’s time for feeding a teaspoon or two of hc and checking every 20-30 minutes. If that happens please add the 911 prefix so that someone will be stay with you until it’s safe. You are seeing really good numbers so I wanted to give you a heads up. I would print out the yellow sticky on handling low numbers in case it takes a few minutes for help to arrive. Keep asking questions.

Now that the bg is coming down I suggest you get a +2 test for both cycles. It it drops from the AMPS//PMPS you will likely have an active cycle and will need to test more. Since many cats onset then, it is a good indicator of what to expect that cycle.

Ok so if she goes lower then 50/2.8 then i give gravy food and keep an eye and keep testing often even before signs of symptomatic hypo. printed the sheet.

ok... during the week i am out from +1 to +4 (for 2 more weeks). But if im worried i will try to figue out a plan to get home.

ok... i will post daily a new thread titled with the date missy and her current BG at the time??? (trying to understand all the sticky notes) and also...whats condo mean??? 'post a daily condo'?
or only post when nmbers are questionable?

AND THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!

Condo is FDMB lingo for a thread. So you will post date Missy AMPS +++ then whatever tests you do . If you have a question you add it. Have a look at some of the others folks and you will get the idea. When you post your tests we can scan the list and see if anyone needs help. If you have a question add the question mark prefix.
