She does that sometimes I have noticed. No drop at +2 with meter variance so just leave her be and maybe see if she wants a little lc in an hour.
She has her fresh lc out for her.
Not quite herself in what way?

@tiffmaxee
Like I said, non specific except not eating as well as usual.
We spend so much time together and any little change, I can't explain it. I don't think she's actually sick but maybe not feeling great either. It's just how I am with those I love, I am extremely sensitive and can be very annoying.:stop: I am a chronic worrier.

I have to leave for an hour plus. My husband will be here but doesn't test. I am leaving in 45 minutes. Any thoughts on giving her some mc food so I know she is okay while I an gone?

Gave her some mc 12% at almost +5. Ate very little. Couldn't find her before I left for appt. Left small amount of mc 12% for my husband to give her at +6. Got home @7.25, she tested at 131. Hope that will come down a little, no idea if that could happen when the raise is from food.

I got my wish, just hope there are no deep drops tonight.

She tends to drop at +3 at night. But she usually starts higher. She's had a lovely flat cycle today in the AM. Hopefully she keep it that way!

Is she more herself now? Eating okay?
She’s definitely more herself, maybe these late nights are getting to her :cat:. She is not eating her dinner but she eventually does. She may be over her current flavor of the month. I end up putting out different foods and she ends up eating the first one, her usual. She was just more sleepy than usual and not the best appetite. She’s perky now, even played a little. Thanks for checking on us, have a great day/night. I. Think I can manage “most” issues with her numbers or I’ll be calling out for help.

Once they get used to lower numbers, they actually like them. Glad to hear she is more herself.

I'm not sure how tonight's cycle will play out, but it looks like a meal at PMPS +2 will help that dive she does at +3.
She might stay flat tonight or head higher. Now I'm sure she is going to go lower just to prove me wrong. They love doing that!

She’s still not eating, making me nervous. How long does it take for the Lantus to kick in? Brain is tired, memory is gone for the moment. Not so long ago she was getting Mirtazapine fairly often. Maybe she has an upset stomach but she is not acting like she doesn’t feel well. :(

She grazes round the clock, well not so much in the middle of the night, it’s always available.

The "onset" for Lantus is different for different cats. Hers seems to be early. +1 itself? Will ask @tiffmaxee to confirm.

With Bandit I find that she is less hungry in better numbers than she was when she unregulated. Wondering if Dolly would fare better with fixed meal timings rather than free feeding.

Onset is usually at +2 but some cats it’s earlier and with others later. It looks like Dolly might be mixed. You don’t have a lot of +1 tests but some of them show onset then.

Up until the end of her remission, late August, she was on fixed meals, she took forever to eat a bowl of food, hours and then she didn’t eat more than 1/2 can twice a day with small amounts of Dr Elsey’s left out. I took away the Dr Elsey’s a month or so ago. FortiFlora is what changed her eating habits, she can’t smell her food due to her congestion, chronic Sinusitis, FortiFlora was a game changer. She is a great eater now, today is just an off day.

I don’t know how others view the constant testing but for me and Dolly I become the enemy, probably wrong choice of words. I believe on some instinctual level she knows I poke her out of love but she hates it. She has been totally compliant 99% of the time. Anyway it’s taken me all of these words to say I know the testing has to be done but I fear it affects her trust in me, our bond, and I hate that. I apologize for being so long winded.
She is at 87@+1.5

That's why I was confused. Sometimes there is a drop at +1. At others she is flat at +2 and drops at +3!

No apologies needed! :-)

I'm fortunate that Bandit lets me test her without any complaints. Can you tell if testing hurts Dolly? Do you use a lancing device? What gauge lancets? Alternate the ears? Maybe a LC treat after the test would endear the process?

Dolly is perfect for testing, never complains but she would prefer to do something more fun. No lancing device. 30 gauge lancets. Only one ear allowed. Always gets treats. Testing isn’t a problem as far as picking her up, she never try’s to get away. I think she finds it annoying. I’ve hurt her a few times, she’s forgiving.

She knows you love her and she loves you.
We are attached at the hip. Even more so now since I am always home. She is nearly always in the same room with us. I’ve never had a cat quite like her. She was 4 when we adopted her 7 years ago. Totally not trusting. Very fearful. Never had one home in those 4 years, she was a foster cat.

She’s at 75@+2.5. Gave her a little more mc. She seems thirstier than usual, maybe it’s the food. These are the nights I worry about, I am already sleep deprived from the last two nights.

Thank goodness all is well, I obviously could not stay awake because I just woke up nearly 2 hours later. Never has that happened to me. Dolly seems perfectly fine but her numbers are still low. She is 74@5.25. I gave her a little hc. She was with me on the couch in her bed. Needless to say this has totally scared me. I am so tired still. I will check her in 1/2 hour. Thank you for being there.

I figured you had fallen asleep :-)

74 is a perfectly safe number. And she is close to or at her nadir. You need not test again. Especially if you've fed HC.

For future reference, you need to bring out the HC only if she dips below 50 or dips very fast early in the cycle and you want to give her some carbs to slow down the drop.

Not did I just fall asleep but for two hours. Thanks again for everything. :bighug::bighug: I obviously panicked thinking about how low she may have been in those two hours. Hard for a control person to lose control. :(
