  • It would be helpful if you can set up your signature so members won't ask you the same questions over again. Look at mine its after every post in grey writing

  • On the left, under Settings, Click on Signature. This is where you will put information that helps us give you feedback.
    • There is a limit of two lines which may include two links; you may separate pieces with commas, dashes, | etc. This is where you paste the link for your spreadsheet, once it is set up.
    • Add any other text, such as
    • Caregiver & kitty's name (optional)
    • DX: Date
    • Name of Insulin
    • Name of your meter
    • Diet: "LC wet" or "dry food" or "combo"
    • Dosing: TR or SLGS or Custom (if applicable)
    • DKA or other recent health issue (if applicable)
    • Acro, IAA, or Cushings (if applicable)
    • Spreadsheet link. Please put the signature link on the bottom line of your signature information, on its own, so it is easy to find.
    • Please do not put any information about your location in the signature for security reasons. If you wish to add your country location, please add it to your profile.
Be sure to click the 'Save Changes' button at the bottom. If you need help urgently it is important we know these things at a glance. We don’t want to waste valuable time finding out information.

tap on your avatar where it says your name ,then hit profile page ,tap on that ,then go up to the very top, upper right hand side and tap on your name ,it will bring down a drop box, tap on signature, the signature will be under settings, tap on the signature then and you can start to add what I posted above, make sure you hit save ,
Welcome to the best place you could ever be and an awesome group of people

This information will appear at the end of each post in Greg, take a look at Tylers

Would you like to set up a spreadsheet , we all use this to see how the insulin is working and how low it's taking them. If you ever need help with dosing this is what
our members need to see to give any advice, It's a great tool
We are all in different time zones so giving us times like you did above is not helpful.

If you need help setting it up we have two wonderful members who can set it up for you. Just ask.

I will also post a link that will explain how the spreadsheet grid works.
You can take a look at Tyler's or any other members

Thanks for setting up your signature great
Just a heads up the Alpha Trak 2 test strips are very expensive and you will go thru a lot of them. They can range from any where from 50.00 to 55.00 dollars for
50 strips. It's up to you .
Most of us here use the Relion Premier from Walmart
It's 9.00 dollars and 17.88 for 100 strips.

Our numbers are based on human meters, but it's up to you which one you feel
more comfortable with.
I had used the Alpha Trak in the beginning but after awhile I couldn't afford the strips.

My vet was ok with me using a human meter

Always aim for the sweet spot warm the ears up first, you can put rice in a sock and put it in the microwave, test it on the inside of your wrist to be sure it's not to hot, like you would test a babies bottle. You can fill a pill bottle with warm water and roll it on the ears also

6. As the ears get used to bleeding and grow more capilares, it gets easier to get the amount of blood you need on the first try. If she won’t stand still, you can get the blood onto a clean finger nail and test from there

You want to buy 26 or 28 gauge lancets to start out with.
The will make a bigger prick so they will bleed better.
Then after more capillaries grow you can switch to size 30 or 31
I have always stayed with the size 28 lancets
Some will use the lancet pens, and some will just use the lancet by itself and do it freehand. I find it easier and can see where I'm aiming
Your preference.

Buy some cotton rounds to out behind his ear just in case you might stick
yourself and then press gently for about 20 seconds or so to stop the bleeding.

Believe me it sounds worse than it is. I can even test Tyler when he's sleeping.

You can also pick up some Neosporin Ointment with Pain Relief just in case you might see his ears getting a little sore. Make sure you DON'T get the cream.

All you need is a thin layer

Always have honey or Karo in the house in case he drops too low and you need to
bring his BG back up

This is what you need to feed if he ever drops to low, don't have want a hypo
Such as

You should always have a few can of these on hand in case you need to bring up

Fancy Feast Gravy Lovers Gourmet Beef Feast in Gravy 20% High Carbs

Fancy Feast Gravy Lovers Gourmet Chicken Feast in Gravy. 15% Med Carbs

Fancy Feast Gravy Lovers Turkey Feast in Gravy. 15% Med Carbs

Fancy Feast Gravy Lovers Chicken and Beef Feast in Gravy 15% Med Carbs

It's mostly the gravy that has the higher carbs in it

Your previous post for continuity.
Logan is such a hadsome boy, did you start home testing yet?
no i havent as of yet.. did the curve at vet yesterday.. crazy as it sounds they said no need to test.. but bring him in after 6 months.. i disagree with this.. and they said 2 units is so little that you don't need to test. again.. i disagree with this.. and they said its rare that a cat goes into remission.. (but what if my cat does//??) so i will test.

i figured i should have both.. but then the numbers would be different..is there a chart or something i should go by?or just plug them into a spread sheet that was given to me..

I have never poked on the inside of the ear, I think almost all of us poke on the outside,it's up to you

VIDEO: How to test your cat's blood sugar
Here is a video that one of our members made, her kitty is also on Prozinc

Sandy you should stick with one meter, here are the instructions for setting up the
spreadsheet, if you have trouble just ask.

Read understanding the spreadsheet it will explain how it works
Take a look at anyone's spreadsheet , it's at the bottom of everyone post

Yes you would put the BG numbers in that you already have from his first and second curve

Don't agree with anything the vet told you. We have many experienced members
here that I feel know more than some vets. They live it 24/7 365 days.
My cat wouldn't be doing this good if it wasn't for these amazing members

THANKYOU FOR THIS.... AS SUCH AS A NOVICE AS I AM... WHEN THEY TOLD ME BRING HIM BACK IN 6 MONTHS I FELT SHOCKED.. i will test.. SOON. hugs to all of you guys.. and from the little experience that i have with this group, i really feel blessed to hear from you all.. makes me feel better.. Logan is such a shy skittish cat, that i really don't want to stress him out anymore than i have to,, but i certainly don't want him to go hypo on me cuzz i listened to the vet and didn't test..
