Never a dull moment. I thought Gideon was fairly stable, then he drops to 43 at +3 last night. I started out with 16% food to bring him up, but then had to go to the 25% pretty quickly, when he wasn't rising enough.
I am so glad I was home. I ended up sleeping in the guest room with him, so I could keep an eye on him, and continue testing. He stayed with me the entire night, as well as the 2 other kitties. At PMPS last night, his Lantus dose was lowered to 0.75 units, before he had his dip. I am keeping it at 0.75 units for now.

I am thankful I had the tools and the knowledge to remain calm, and feed Gideon as appropriate. This is all thanks to this group!

I remember getting into the 30’s and once a lo and yes it’s good to have the tools snd know how to use food to keep them safe. I don’t know how people never test at home. I’m glad it happened when you were home. :bighug::D

With those lows from yesterday I’d be happy with blues.
Well, now my boy has a BG=74@PMPS. Hoping I don't have to be up tonight. I fed him 5% carb food, and will give perhaps 8% if his +3 is getting too low. I still have the 25% in the fridge from last night if I need it. Hoping I can manage him with just LC food.

So, with the decrease in Lantus from 1 unit to 0.75 units last night, the depot is still filled for a couple of days, right? At +1.5 tonight, Gideon is already down to 64, but this does not warrant another decrease, correct? I might be getting up a few extra times tonight. Currently, he is eating some 9% carb food. I am trying to keep him above 68 with higher end LC food. Any suggestions?

Correct. You might need higher carb food tonight. In fact I would give higher carb now.

Carb him up so you can sleep. Yes it's the depot talking. It can influence 4-6 cycles after the reduction.

I just gave him a TBSP of the 25% that I gave last night. He was quite happy, then another kitty helped herself too. Will re-test in 20 mins.

Gideon's BG is now 99. I can rest a bit.

How long after the HC was that?

The HC wears off after a couple of hours, so important to get a test then to see if he is still up and make sure he doesn't dive on you again.
He's been giving you a fair few lime greens over the last few cycles, until he stops doing that I would be extra vigilant.

Yes, I have more test. I will put them in the spreadsheet this morning.

If you haven't shot, looking at the numbers of the last few days and the fact it took more carb than usual for him to bump up out of the lime greens...
I just wonder if he is sending you a message. I think you may want to consider taking him down to 0.5u
It is not usual to take back to back reductions but that 45 is quite low with an AT, it took a while to get him back up, and then two cycles later back in the lime green.

If you have shot 0.75u already, please make sure you get tests early in the cycle.
So if he has an early drop at onset you can act quickly before he drops lower, and remember the earlier in the cycle that he drops often the higher the carbs you may need to move him, don't mess about with the 16% go for the 25%

I agree with Gill. Seeing how the last few cycles have played out, and noting that you have been reaching for really HC, I would be inclined to reduce to 0.5u. Are you still feeding 5-9% for Gideon Blue's meals at shot time?

I was worried as well. I checked your ss and just saw the one test. I agree with the others that it’s time to reduce. Are you working tonight? Even by reducing he’s going to need to be watched more closely than usual so if working will your husband and son be testing enough? You might need to skip tonight.
