Good morning!
Monkeys AMPS was 160. I fed her and retested 187 ? Do I skip the morning dose under 200? I thought I read that somewhere?
Before I left at 7 am she was 201, so I went with my gut and gave her 0.25 U. My husband was equipped in case of hypo event. He said she was fine all day.
I got home at 3:30 and tested her- she was 261.
What do you think??

Have you fed her? If not, you can test her in 20 mins from the AMPS and see if she is headed higher or lower.
Will you be at home to monitor her today?

With TR, the idea is to eventually shoot any number over 50. But that confidence comes with time and after you have collected enough data on how kitty behaves on insulin.
I see that lowest you have shot thus far is 220.

From the dosing sticky:
Q4.4. My cat's pre-shot level was way below the usual value. Should I give the injection?
A4.4. There's no hard and fast rule, but if you don't have data on how your cat responds to insulin, here are some general guidelines.
  • Below 150 mg/dl (8.3 mmol/L), don't give insulin.
  • Between 150 and 200 (8.3-11.1 mmol/L), you have three options:
    • a.) give nothing
    • b.) give a token dose (10-25% of the usual dose)
    • c.) feed as usual, test in a couple of hours, and make a decision based on that value

I’m
Then I would suggest that you skip or give a token dose like 0.25u.
Do you have to head out soon after the shot or will you be able to get a +2 or a +3?
going to skip this mornings shot. I’m worried that her numbers are not stable enough to make the decision to shoot. Even if I only give a token dose of 0.25 . It hasn’t been long enough for me to feel comfortable giving it to her.
I gave her 0.25U after checking her bg at 6:45 which was 201.
She did very well.

OK. Safety first!

Next time you get a lower PS number that you are used to, you stall without feeding and test after 20 mins to see if numbers are headed higher or of they continue to drop.
Of course, everyone here would advise shooting a lower than usual PS number only if you are home to monitor.

Could you please change the title of your thread to reflect that you are skipping. Thanks :-)
