The fastings are higher than we would like, but there is no room for an increase with the nadir huddling in the low 70s with the pet meter. Would feeding him 1/2 meal at fasting and then 1/2 @ +3 possibly smooth out the higher fasting numbers?

We had hoped that LT would go back into remission after his dental 3 weeks ago, but that doesn’t seem to be in the cards at this time. Though this is disappointing, we are happy that he is still healthy in every other way. Our goal is to keep him under the renal threshold for as big a part of the day as possible.

By fasting do you mean withholding food two hours before insulin?
I mean feeding him 1/2 a meal at AMPS and PMPS and then 1/2 a meal at +3. He is very carb sensitive, so I am concerned a+9 snack might send him higher. I can try it and see what happens.

It's my understanding that getting them into remission the 2nd time is a bit more challenging than the first - although certainly not impossible - but of course I wouldn't know, since we've not had the opportunity to experience either - nor will we likely ever have that chance.

You were very fortunate to have him in remission - even for a time. I like your idea of keeping him below the renal threshold for the majority of the day. You never, know, he may just surprise you one day and decide to go for it again :)

Hang in there Suzanne :)

Thank you for your encouraging words; it’s exactly what I needed to hear. You were and still are one of LT’s biggest cheerleaders.
I think that’s a good idea. Skip the +9 though.
