Well, what a day yesterday....Never a dull moment
I won’t bore you with all the details but my husband fell in the pool- wheelchair and all- he had an ankle fusion 3 weeks ago and is in a cast and cannot bear weight. Thankfully he was not hurt and could pull himself up on the deck of the deep end, I changed his wet clothes and took him to the ER where I used to work to get the wet cast removed.

we got home 50 mins after monkeys normal PMPS which the bg was 71. I didn’t trust the reading and took two more 518 then 588.
I had been chatting with Chris and I gave her 0.5 units.
Monkey will remain on that dose for at least 6 cycles most likely the recommended 5-7 days.

I adjusted her time this morning.

Off board discussion of dose is not something that should be done. I see that Gill also recommended the 0.5 units so will let that be.

One other thing I would like to comment on, there were no tests last night. From above, that was after you were back day from the ER visit. (sorry about that :bighug:) Especially with the larger dose given in the AM, I would have gotten at least one extra test last night. It's entirely possible for cats to dive from high numbers down to low, then back up again. Neko earned several reductions starting in the 400's.

Thank you. Taking all of this into consideration.

Suzi has applied to DCIN for help with her supplies. It's in my capacity as a Case Manager that I've talked with her. I'm a firm believer in the rules regarding off board advice because I believe that no ONE person can know everything and having many eyes watching out for you not only means getting more advice, you can also get differing opinions which makes you think....which makes you learn. In my opinion, the best thing we can do for anybody that joins us is to teach them what to watch for, how their insulin works and how to make good decisions for their own cat (eventually) instead of spoon-feeding them every time and having them depend on the board to tell them what to do in every case.
