AMPS 173 - can I shoot?

Hi

Day 7 of treatment and Lily's morning BG is 173. Apart from yesterday dropping every day which is excellent. Not sure what happened yesterday.

So, can I give her half a unit or should I wait? I can't give her anything smaller unless the new syringes arrive today (fingers crossed). It's likely to take her down quite low so I'd probably need to feed her every half an hour or so throughout and measure lots but I'm still a bit worried about trying it.

I gave as close as I could to 0.2 but I also think I might have managed to inject her fur thanks to a last minute dodge on her part. Obviously can't give any more now so I'll have to check on her in two hours when her breakfast has gone down, as long as she shows no signs of low sugar.

Are you feeding 30 minutes before giving her insulin?

Sounds like a good idea to shoot low, but keep an eye on her this cycle!

Yes I feed at 8.30 and dose her up at 9.

Good plan! I might even test at +1, given the low pre-shot.

There might be a food bump, but mostly you're just double-checking in case she was already headed downward from the 173. Seems unlikely given that she hit green last night, but these kitties do like to surprise us!

104 at +2, so some of it definitely went in! Will test again in an hour rather than sooner, because that's quite a slow drop for her so I'm not worried. She's desperate to go out.

A little LC snack right now might slow her down more and keep her out of the lime greens. Not a big one, in case she has other ideas and you need her to eat some HC food soon...

Thank you. I tend to give her a teaspoon of low carb food after each testing to increase compliance as it's mostly water. She's now started purring when I get her trapped between my knees! Stops if it goes on to more than two attempts though. She's now reading 60 at +3.5 so I'm happy with her but still keeping an eye on her.
