Three mornings without insulin and still low numbers!

Hello everybody, Mermelada had a hypoglycemia crisis three days ago, after that I stoped givin insulin because he still had low numbers, and I'll be in shock cus he's manteining his low numbers all this days!! Could be some kind of remission??? I don't know what to think but i'm so so so excited about this, it's a good sign?

Those do look like good numbers to me, but I'm not sure they're quite low enough for remission. I do think 5 units was obviously way too high...

If/when you do restart insulin, I would recommend starting at 0.5 units and see how he does before jumping up to massive doses. Most people on here following dosing guidelines or protocols (Start Low, Go Slow; or Tight Regulation).

Hi. I am glad that you came back. While the numbers are really good, they aren’t quite remission numbers. Is your glucose meter a human or pet one? You definitely broke through the glucose toxicity!

I don’t think she had a symptomatic hypo from what you wrote on the spreadsheet but her numbers most certainly did require several dose changes! We had you going back to regular SLGS so every time she dropped under 90 you needed a dose reduction. Let me look at your spreadsheet again and I will be back.

So no insulin for this cycle. Will you get a +5-6 and then post the PMPS and ask for dosing advice please? At this point .50 might even be too much IF even high enough to shoot. :D

Thank you so much!, and yeah I know now about the SLGS but during that time I was following my vet instructions :( after being at this forum found out that It was wrong going that high, this morning was by himself at 85 so I didn't give him insulin today nither

I have human glucometer and no, never had any symptom neither high or low, the only one he had was that he was drinking a lot of water, but also that one stoped more than a week ago, just found out about those low numbers because the test, when saw that he was below 70 I gave him a little bit of honey and tested an hour later, when he had the crisis was because he started to play and run a lot around the house, he started to vomiting many times till I gave him honey and his food

That does sound like a symptomatic hypo! I’m glad you acted quickly and he responded. He might have been even lower. He will likely be more sensitive to insulin now which is another reason why you need to be really care with the next dose. You want him to be between 50-100 before completely stopping insulin to get a strong remission but the dose will be tiny.

Yes, that time (3days ago) has been the only one he showed symptoms of hypo, the other ones just found out due the tests

I think you got past the insulin resistance and once that happens some cats fly down the dosing scale. He’s doing it in record time!:D
