11/20 Cotton PMPS 281 + 1.5 322 shot 2.5 1st day Lantus Looking good

I guess it depends what part of Cape Breton you are and whether there are larger stores. Guess that was my big city assumption.

The Lantus clearly has the advantage - 281 BG 12 hours after his morning shot of 2.5 units.
I am not worried but surprised it has not started back up again.
I am going to check the thread for posts related to this. Should I give any dose? Or like 0.5?
As it's his 1st day on Lantus I have no trend to go by. Of course I will test again as I want to see them begin upwards.

I can't give any advice because I'm also new at this, just wanted to say the same thing happened to Putu when we switched over two days ago. She didn't curve back up the first day (gave full dose) nor the second day (had to skip that shot). I'm sure someone experienced will chime back in soon. I'll be watching and rooting for Cotton!

Thank you Putu's human :)
I appreciate your words and experience which is more than mine! Good to know that it has happened before. I will go check out Putu's spreadsheet to see how it's working for you both.

I'm happy to lend my support (don't know if I can call it "experience" yet) ;) Putu is now on her third day of Lantus and we had to reduce her dose to be safe. Of course, her numbers are sky high today because I likely overdosed her to begin with and caused a bounce.

Night shot given 2.5 u after BG began to rise again at 13.5 hours following first Lantus shot.
Looking forward to seeing the AMPS!

So how much after your normal shot time did you shoot tonight? If it was 13.5 hours after the shot this morning, you should shoot at that same time tomorrow morning. You can get back on schedule by moving shot time by 1/2 hour once per day, or 15 minutes per cycle.

When the BG is that high, you really don't have to wait for the numbers to be on the way up again before shooting with Lantus.

Okay. It will make more sense as time goes on.

I am very paranoid after the experience with Canninsulin with the drop of over 20 points on a 2.5 unit - from 583/32.4 to 187/10.2 in one 12 hour period. But when I looked back this evenung over the past period of 12 hours and saw that he had only dropped 5-6 points from a start of over 20, it didn't seem so drastic.
But I am glad it started coming up again so I could see the dose would not drop him into hypo.

I will adjust the time tomorrow am to start catching up to former schedule by 15 minutes per 12 hours.
Thank you again.

Take a look at some of the other posts around here and you'll get an idea what a cat's cycle could look like. Of course ECID so there is no guarantee Cotton will do the same.
