I don't know girls but he's in the blue. How did that happen? I hope he's not on his way back up and I didn't even know it. Yikes, how low did he go....that is a song, right?

I have HVAC people servicing today so finding Blue has already been a problem. We'll see how the day progresses with that in mind. He's in the powder room right now eating and not happy.

Poor baby! ((((((Bluebird))))))

His nibs had only just dipped into the blues at AMPS so I don't think he would have gone too low last night.

I recommend grabbing a test at +1.5, Patty, and if he's dropped further at that point give him a couple of tsps of HC with a squeeze of gravy. (If it's a big drop add a little honey.)

I'll check back in for the result.

How are you doing today, Patty? :bighug:

Hey Mogs.
I'm okay. Busy morning with HVAC guy here. I kept asking him to close the doors because I don't want cats all over the place. I ended up following him around to close doors.
Cats are freaked because of a stranger in the house.
Blue has been hiding along with the others. Good times!
How are you and Noodle bug today?
I'm going to see if I can round up Blue for another test.

For the record, I'd have gone for HC to reduce the risk he'll drop much further: as soon as he goes too far into the greens he either bounces massively or ends up hitting the point where the dose has to be reduced again (and the 0.25IU just doesn't seem to be enough).

What % hc?
I'd have gone for 20%. With Blue, the Lantus tends to do all the heavy lifting in the first few hours of the cycle, so the earlier the breaks go on the better the chance of controlling the drop and hopefully the bouncy response later on. That's the theory anyway! :)

Thank you, Patty! Trying to sort out the Noodle here. Because of the PTSD I can't split focus (technical term). It means my brain can't flip back and forth between things and if I try to push the issue it just shuts down and does a complete reset of my working memory. It's an absolute pain in the fundament. :banghead:

He's levelled out a bit. Let's see the effect of the LC on his +4.

Indeed it is interesting. Nice to see him not heading into orbit at that time in the cycle.

I've been watching his spreadsheet all afternoon shouting, "Don't you dare bounce, Blue!"

:D

I had to disturb his bath.
Sacrilege!

Good to see the little bump.

If this keeps up you might be needing some of these later on:

I can understand the nerves, Patty. :bighug:

Have a look at the PM cycle of 11 November, because numbers are in a similar range today. Then look at the AM cycle of 12 November. He had one of his speedy drops on that morning. If you do give the dose on a low number, test very frequently from the get-go and if he stays level or even has a very small drop, give him his HC snacks with a bit of gravy - and some honey if indicated - to try to stop him dropping too fast and too far. I'm tagging @tiffmaxee to ask whether she might be around in the early part of the cycle to keep an eye out for you two.

Remember that if FH is quiet and you're stuck you can always try to post on the Lantus board and include a link to your thread here so that anyone who replies to the Lantus post can follow you back here and catch up on what's been happening during the day. Also, you have your notes in the spreadsheet to refer back to so that you can see what worked before and apply it to the current situation. If he does get on the low side remember that he needs a lot of carbs to bring/keep numbers up, especially in the early hours of the cycle (up to and including +6 at least). If you overshoot with the carbs it's no biggie.
