My vet is going to write me a script for a longer-acting glargine insulin (we've been on Vetsulin) and I'm hoping someone more experienced can look at my spreadsheet and offer some dosing advice. I've read that generally, this converts 1:1 but I have some mild concerns.
On the one hand, members here have pointed out to me a couple of times that my cat may be a bit bouncy. I'm still figuring out how to find patterns in the spreadsheet so I'm not sure if I somehow have her on too high of a dose.
On the other hand, she had DKA just before her diagnosis a couple of weeks ago so I don't want to shoot too low.
She also has IBD and is taking Budesonide, so there's always lurking variables of inflammation and steroid use.
As you can see, I've psyched myself out a bit and need some perspective
A quick note on the dosing in my spreadsheet: I only have u-40 syringes with the 1 unit marks (I know I need to switch) so I can't really say whether her current dose is 1.75 or 1.5. I just pull the stopper to the same place every time (just shy of the 2 unit mark by the width of the top ring). It's honestly probably somewhere between 1.5 and 1.75.
