What is a cat's favorite movie? The Sound of Mewsic!

133 isn't super low but I'm not sure how much 3 units will lower him.

I guess I should test at +1 to see his direction, then at +2.5 to see how much of a drop he gets from the insulin. Then at +6 to see how low he gets.

You guys are training me well, don't I sound like I know what I'm doing???? !!!!! ;)

EDIT/UPDATE: Yikes a fur shot. I think I didn't even break the skin, so I'm going to give him another one.

If you think you have a fur shot, you shouldn’t give a second shot. There’s a possibility some went in and you don’t want to give too much!

NO! Never give a repeat shot even if you think it’s a fur shot.

I’m concerned that you shot a second time before Tanya and I saw your post. If that happened you need to monitor closely starting with a +1 and +2. The same will be true tonight.

Yes the whole fur was wet, it wasn't even like he flinched or ran away. I just shot the fur. I don't think any thing got in at all. If I suspected even a little, I would have not. However I will be monitoring him very closely today anyway since he was 133 this morning.
So I am planning on monitoring +1 and +2 and beyond. Thanks for the messages.

Yes gave a second shot. But really it was the first shot. His fur was totally wet.

So neither the cat nor the needle moved while I was shooting. And the fur was completely wet.

It's never a good idea to give a second shot because even if you think no insulin got in some could have. I hope Squeaky continues to stay safe today.

It's natural to want to make sure they got insulin. We all have to learn sometimes. :bighug:

You are all our angels, looking after us........ I'm so grateful. So I'm guessing I won't need to test Squeaky until PMPS, right?

It looks like he's going to keep going up, but if he gets a food bump you may want to get another test just to be safe that he isn't coming back down.

    I got a +6.5 and it's 447. Bouncing from those lovely blues, I guess.

Thank you for caring about us!!!! I wish he would stop bouncing like this.

I was reading the vets report from her visit last week. She gave him a 6 out of 10 in overall wellness. That's not so good. I wish there was more I could do.

Once you get him regulated that number will go up. You can’t rush him. He leads in this dance. We are along for the ride.

That is a good way to look at it. Well, I am giving him all the love and support that I can think of doing. He's the love of my life, you know. King of my heart.

Hi Everybody, With the bounce Squeaky is having a rough day, sleeping a lot really deep, not very perky, laying in front of his water dish. Is there anything I could be/should be doing? We're just about to start the evening routine of play inhaler test feed shoot. Thanks a bunch.

Nothing you can do about it. He will come back down on his time. cats are so tricky and especially with diabetes. But keep remembering that while difficult, many do go into remission unlike dogs I’ve read.

Do you think he is getting better or worse? Or we just don't know until he either gets really better or really worse?

Cosmo was diagnosed in early June, and he spent a long time above 500. Some kitties take longer than others, but the good thing is that you are breaking bounces fairly soon. When high, Cosmo spent most of his day in front of his water dish - trying to help himself bring down his numbers.

it’s ok...he is going to turn around :bighug:

    Patience pants :)
