I am familiar with depot. I read that you could wait up to 2 hours after feeding to shoot. Sometimes I test when I get home, feed anbd shoot an hour later. Is that not actually ok?Hi! Have you read about the lantus depot? Even if you skip a shot, the depot is in play (i.e., Malcom still has insulin that has yet to be used in his tissue from the previous doses). And yes it is possible Malcom could drop even with a skipped dose due to the depot but it doesn't look like he will today. Just my two cents.
FWIW you do want to make sure you are testing prior to giving insulin every single time as you want to make sure it is safe to give Malcom insulin. I see a number of times where there are no pre-shot tests in your SS.

It’s actually a really good sign that Malcolm’s surfing along there and not coming up without a shot this morning
The two hour thing is actually to remove food for a minimum of two hours before shooting (unless you’re feeding low numbers) this is so you know that your preshot test isn’t food influenced and it is safe to shoot. What you’ve been doing is not a good idea with lantus. I think with some of the harsher insulins you might need to have food on board before you shoot but with lantus you want to test, feed, shoot all at the same time. By feeding an hour ahead of shooting you’re raising the BG and making it harder for the lantus to do it’s job. Lantus isn’t designed to grab onto high numbers and yank them down, it’s a gentle insulin and what you’re looking to do is get the numbers into the normal range and keep them there so the cycles are nice and flat. It’s actually not so important to have food on board at the time you shoot the lantus but we feed then so you know kitty is well and will eat later.
on SLGS if you’re having nadirs between 90 and 149 you want to hold the dose. I’m going to count 125 at +16 as a nadir and say hold the .75U. You certainly don’t want to go back up to 1U at the moment as Malcolm has shown us it’s a bit much for him right now. The focus with lantus is on the lowest numbers you get, don’t pay too much attention to the high ones at this stage they are just bounces from Malcolm being in lower numbers than he’s used to, they will flatten out.
