BTW in your SS, I think your remarks for yesterday contain two days of remarks (maybe cut & paste error :)) - maybe take a look when you can. Also, FWIW, I would have set an alarm last night - maybe for a +5 - just to see where cole went in the lagoon :D Do you use an auto feeder or leave food out at night (though it needs to be picked up 2 hours before shot time)?

Thanks Susanne - definitely a cut and paste error - cleaned up now!

My husband fed Cole again last night (I don't know exactly when as he's still sleeping:rolleyes:) and it's a good suggestion - should have tested again to see what way he was heading.

Any food out gets devoured by the 3 cats so we don't leave it out. But thinking about an autofeeder. Does this group recommend any?

I use CatMate5 (has ice packs) and the PetSafe5 is also popular. I have two cats but I separate Jax at night so he doesn't eat Benji's food (and so Benji doesn't eat his...). I think @PerfumedCatMom uses one with microchips for her cat - I believe the only downside is you can't schedule the time it opens.
 
An auto feeder makes sleep at night not just a dream! I wish I had trained Max to use one early on. By the time I bought one he was deaf and I didn’t bother using it.

I do expect you will see green since you dint even have a food bump. Have a great day.

I have one Sure Feeder for each cat and it's been a godsend. I have a divided bowl in Olive's feeder that contains wet and dry food and Ruby is locked out of the contraband. Finally Olive can eat her food without it being stolen by her bossier diabetic sister! Ruby has her own feeder so that I know only she can get at it and it helps me to know exactly how much she is eating during the course of the day. I am at home all day long so I feed her about 5-6 times a day, with the last meal before I go to bed. I have an alarm set for 5 AM so I crawl out of bed and put the food bowl away two hours before her AM test and then go back to bed. The microchip feeder works super well if you're around all day long to feed. If they had a timed version it would be a perfect feeding solution for sugar cats.
 
Thank you all for the feeder advice - with 3 cats who all want to eat any food that's out, it is taking a lot of supervision. :rolleyes: Before we moved to all wet, they could graze on dry whenever they wanted so it's a big change for all of them.

Got that drop as predicted - at +2, Cole was at 61 and I gave him 1.5 tbs MC food

DH was in charge for a bit ...

Cole earned a reduction tonight to 1.5u.
Will test again soon.
 
At +5, pretty flat at 92. Permitted me to comb him a little and then squawked in no uncertain terms "cut it out already" ;)

Sigh ... full of knots. Least of our worries but still it can't feel good. Our vet isn't doing any grooming these days and they are much more successful at this than we ever are. Our other boys love to be combed and brushed, but Cole has always hated it other than his neck and cheeks.
 
Once you get the knots out have you ever tried the zoom groom? One of mine loves it so much she will stop trying to get her sister!s food and follow me to be brushed.

Hi Elise - Cole hates that too - we just have to put a comb or the zoom groom, or any of the other grooming items close to his sides or haunches and the crying begins. :rolleyes: And it has never mattered if he was nice and knot free or needed some help - always dislikes grooming from us.

Dax and Teddy love it - flop over, show their tummies - it's a whole different story.:joyful:
 
Chai tries to bite the zoom. I had one cat I could not brush her tummy so when she had her annual the vet will sedate and shave her belly. When I had my apartment fumigated, I brought her to a different vet who thought I was abusing her at first but when he saw her in action kept her in her carrier until I picked her up. That was a one and done. She wasn't mean but growled.

They are funny when they growl - it always surprises me. When they were doing grooming at our vet, the tech said Cole was great with the grooming. We just can’t believe that but maybe they are firmer about it than we are! Cole could use his belly shaved .. can’t even imagine that we could do that ourselves.

Another thing to add about the microchip feeder is the bowls that come with them have silicone lips along the top edges. When the lid closes, it goes on top of the silicone which seals the bowls and prevents the food from getting dried out or spoiling too quickly. Now I add a lot of water to the pates so drying is not really a problem but I feel like it keeps things fresher and the dry from getting stale because it’s covered. The feeders are pricey but it’s taken away a lot of the stress of worrying who’s eating what and when and how much. Being a 24/7 nurse to a sick cat is hard enough, right? :bighug:

Looks like another great day and night for Cole!:D:D
I just wanted to add that I get Butters groomed by someone who comes to our home. It may be something to check out as I think there are a few in the greater toronto area.
Also, I have the cat mate autofeeder with 5 trays and it is amazing. Training Butters to use it was a challenge, but that's just her. Now she uses it perfectly and I get more sleep.
