Hi all,

Been offline (lots of computer issues at the moment). How is Blue?

Patty, I'd strongly advocate bringing Blue to an ER vet as soon as possible. I think it would be the best and safest thing to do.

I check his gums and thought they were better but compared them to Brat. They're not as moist as Brats.
I just got more fluid down him so I'll check his BG in a little while and see if his blood has improved.
When he pees it's a lot. I think he's out of balance from that. What do you guys think?

Then a vet would need to give fluids to balance the electrolytes. Maybe time for an ER.

Okay, he's better. I tested him and his blood is much thinner. He's at 220 now + 7.5. He's starting to play with toys.
I'm glad I caught that. Scary. I'll be more alert to it in future. He just went to the litter box so I'm sure he peed a lot out.
I'll keep giving him fluids. I wish I still had fluids here but I got rid of everything. I could have given it myself.
The Pedialyte does have sugar so I didn't use it.

An idea: once Blue has been fully hydrated weigh him to get a baseline. Then you could do weight spot-checks a couple of times a day. It's a crude measure but it might give you some small bit of a heads-up as to whether he might need more fluids. Also, if he likes water with a drop of tuna juice to flavour it then maybe consider routinely giving him some of that a couple of times a day.

Does he drink much water normally?

You know what, he always used to follow me around the house and want to drink from every faucet. Since he was diagnosed
he no longer does that. I'll just have to add water to his food and give him supplemental liquids.

Weighing is a good idea. I'll try that also. He's up to 387 +9 but I'm just happy he's hydrated. That was scary.

Patty, I really think you need to get him to a vet tomorrow at the latest. Tacky blood I have not read about but it worries me. Tacky gums would be dehydration.

Maybe I used the wrong term. It was liquid enough that it went up the test strip. I think he's still a little dehydrated and his blood was not thick like earlier today.
I'll keep my eyes on him and take him to ER if he's got the same problem tomorrow. Thank you and I'll keep you posted.
