11/06 Cole PMPS 166/+2 158/+3 140

another big drop at +2 then I would feed a teaspoon of mc to slow him down

Thanks Elise - took your advice - had given some LC, and just added a tsp of MC - hope this slows him down and we stay good!

Today

AMPS 329 * Shot 2.75u * LC food
+1 218 * ate 2 tbs LC food
+2 140 * 1 tbs LC and 1tsp MC

So we've gone zipping past green into low numbers.

At +3, Cole is at 65. Acting normal.

Gave him 1 tbs MC food

Today

AMPS 329 * Shot 2.75u * LC food
+1 218 * ate 2 tbs LC food
+2 140 * 1 tbs LC and 1tsp MC
+3 65 * 1 tbs MC food

Any other advice?

High carb - 2t. You have 20% or higher? ETA - I took off the syrup. lets' bump with HC if you have it.

And remember carbs are in the gravy. so give mostly gravy - you can push your spoon down on the meat to get it.

I edited to just try the HC - but it's okay if you use syrup

Thanks - I'd already given him the food and syrup when I saw your edit :)

Gave gravy - 1tsp HC and 1 tsp syrup

Test @ +4?

Appreciate the speedy help :bighug:

AMPS 329 * Shot 2.75u * LC food
+1 218 * ate 2 tbs LC food
+2 140 * 1 tbs LC and 1tsp MC
+3 65 * 1 tbs MC food
+3.5 59 * 1 tsp HC and 1 tsp syrup

Oh this was a good compromise :)

Also, next time he goes <68, I'd do a tsp or two of the HC since the MC didn't do it for him.

Yes please :bighug:

Makes sense - how long does the HC food BG improvement generally last? I know the honey or syrup is very short lived - will the food last longer?

Yup food lasts longer than syrups. I've seen syrup wear off less than an hour. The food should last a bit longer - I think it's ECID but the idea is get him into safe numbers with food and keep him there with food. Easier on the body rather than the ups and downs with syrup I think. In general, I think the impact of carbs from food is around 2 hours (which is why we say don't feed 2 hours before PS)...but it really depends on the depot we're up against - Cole's is full right now :)

+4 101* 1 tbs LC

Let's see what happens next :nailbiting:

I feel so much better prepared and calmer that I did on Monday when this first happened - this board and all of you who help are amazing support :bighug:

At +6.5, Cole has come down a bit to 158

Should I feed him again? this would be 2 hours from the last LC food

I'd wait and see where he is in an hour. Unless it's a normal time you feed him. 158 is plenty safe.

Thanks Wendy - he is used to snacks through the day so I gave him a tbs of LC @ +7.

Happy we’re in a safe zone!

Oh I see you did. Okay -
  • plan to get a +9 and you can feed a small snack then too - if the HC boosts a lot, you can try MC or even LC.
  • I would also get a test a little before +10 so you can give one more snack.
  • You can then plan to test at +11.5 to see how he's trending and post for shot advice if you need it (but remember he earned a 0.25 reduction and depot will be in play).
I personally won't be around for the next hour or two. @tiffmaxee sometimes checks in on the board around now. Or maybe @Butters & Lyla.

Thanks so much for your help all today - have a good evening!

This is after mid cycle, you usually don't need as many carbs then as you do earlier in the cycle when the insulin effect is stronger. I wouldn't have given HC. Just make sure you've got good note, cause what's most important is what works for Cole.

Susanne's test/feed plan is a good one.

Thanks Wendy - in the morning, the MC didn't really do anything for him, so I assumed it would be the same this afternoon. Actually he dropped again even with the 1 tsp of HC gravy. But I guess since it's only from 104 to 101 - this is considered flat?

Snack again with LC or MC? I'm getting a bit confused...

@Wendy&Neko

Came up a bit to 126 at +10 and staying in the blues. Got his snack of LC and will test before his PMPS. Earned a reduction to 2.5u - he is quite tired of being poked today. :(

Advice please -

Tested at + 11.5 and Cole is up again from 126 to 137 - am I ok to shoot with the reduction (from 2.75u to 2.5u) in 30 minutes?

He's trending up now, and you have shot similar numbers before :). Do you have enough test strips, HC food, can you monitor?

He might bounce from the steeper drop/lower number today, but check his +2 and see where he is going.

If it helps, I can stay for part of the cycle with you, until +4 or so.

Congrats on the reducie.

Thanks Christie - don't worry about staying with me tonight. I have lots of test strips, HC food, and I can monitor. And I feel like I can manage if he drops.

Appreciate the support - helps with confidence :)

Have a great night!

PMPS @ 166, shot reduced dose of 2.5 (cycle 1) and fed LC dinner.
