Yesterday's condo.

It's been a bit of a roller coaster, folks! When I brought Ruby home from the vet yesterday, her BG skyrocketed, and though I was able to encourage her to eat about half the food in her bowl last night during her PM shot, the rest was still sitting in the bowl this morning. She lay on the sofa and then the bed all evening and then night, barely getting up. It's hard to tell if it was her high BG or the Libre bothering her; likely both.

Since she was similarly listless and would not eat this morning, I gave her ¼ tab mirtazapine. She's walking unsteadily, but I think it's because of the placement of the Libre than any neuropathy. Now she has cleaned her bowl, had a nice long drink of water and is sitting on the kitchen table here keeping me company.

The Libre is great. I can see the long, slow dive Ruby took last night since her PM shot. There was no clear nadir, so I was especially concerned about her eating this morning with her AM shot.

I can only get specific numbers if I scan the sensor. If I am not awake at 4 AM, I can't get the number Ruby is at but the sensor keeps recording. More numbers soon!

Sending healing thoughts to all of the sick kitties and hugs to their beans who love them so.:bighug::bighug::bighug:

Another point: Shot her in the thigh last night and this morning because I was afraid of shooting her in the scruff and getting too close to the Libre. I did not want any insulin to throw the sensor off. As a result though, this morning when I gave the shot, she flinched, so I may have shot her in the muscle.

You want the dynamic trends in order to determine dosing so don’t worry too much about “specific” numbers while you are sleeping.

Also the Libre (first series) tends to read low in the lower ranges so a 40 or 50 is more likely 60 or 70 . It’s like a built in safety net. The Libre2 seems to have corrected that and now is more accurate in the lower ranges in humans....not validated to be the case in cats as of yet. I will be using one and let you know what I find.

As long as you are an inch or more from the Libre you are fine :) to give the insulin in the scruff in the vicinity of it without any issues.

Another note, pressure on the sensor will result in a lower reading. Cats sleep in all sorts of positions so just know that if your cat is lying on the sensor and pushing on it you will see a lower reading on the graph :). Again, not a big issue but a reason why placing it on its side is not great. Yours is not on the side so that’s good.

Good to know! Her little sweater is in the way also and it’s a pain to pull off her. Will be easier when her Velcro harness arrived tomorrow.

Ruby is definitely known for sleeping on her back, belly and legs wide open!

Unless you are taking it off to give her a break, you can just leave it on and scan over the sweater. It will read the sensor even through fabric—-even the thick Kitty Kollar!!

I meant taking it off to give her the shot. I leave it on when I scan.

Are you able to cut a small hole somewhere? That may make it easier for you and Ruby
