So, Henri has been OTJ since 10/22. She is still having some issues with her gallbladder. She started Ursodiol last week bc of it and hasn't been able to tolerate the clavamox. I restarted her on Clavamox 11/1 and added in a digestive enzyme treat which i can only assume is high carb and she hasnt vomitted and has been eating fairly well. I have the digestive enzyme coming in a powder form but it wont be here for 2 more days and her numbers are climbing.
I could:

1. Take her off the clavamox and continue antibiotics with a covenia shot. I am not thrilled with this bc of how long it stays in the system, she already had 2 shots and it didn't do enough apparently and it is also not the preferred antibiotic for her issue

2. Lave her on the clavamox with the digestive enzyme treat for another 2 days and hope she can stay in remission

3. Leave her on the clavamox and remove the Digestive enzyme treat or half the dose and hope she doesnt start throwing up again and lose her appetite.

What are your thoughts and should I be concerned with her numbers? Should I possibly reintroduce a drop dose of insulin?

IF you take a look at her sheet, her numbers are slowly climbing since starting the clavamox and digestive enzyme treat...BUT she is also able to bring them down to normal range within 2 hours of eating so I can only assume her pancrease is still working and working well?
I can't feed her less food bc it might cause her to have an unsettled stomach and throw up, I can try to play with her more to help her body lower the BG

I don’t think you need to worry just yet and I definitely would not be reintroducing insulin at this point.

What are the gall bladder issues? I’m guessing if she’s on an ab there’s some sort of infection? Infection can cause BG numbers to rise temporarily too.

I would go for option 2. based on what I’m seeing now, a couple of blue numbers when she’s not well is nothing to be concerned about. And yes, her pancreas is working when her numbers are coming back down properly after food.

I can see there’s no need for me to tell you to just keep an eye on her numbers.

So the ursodiol is bc the bile in her gallbladder is too thick and full of "sludge" as the vet calls it...and its not flushing properly bc of that. The ursodiol thins it out. I was told with gallbladder sludge, infection is very common. As of 2 weeks ago, they didn't see any active infection but they said it can come on quick and be very serious...and bc its common they want her on the antibiotic.

Thanks for the input! I got real nervous tonight with the number climbing into the mid 100's.

So i think ill continue with the digestive enzyme treats so long as her numbers come back down and hopefully the powder form gets here soon and I can get her to stay in the 70-80 range that she seemed to like so much. Im assuming the powder form is low carb too.

Clavamox (like most antibiotics) can kill tummy flora and make their tummy feel upset. You might want to thing about adding a probiotic to help out. There are lots of no carb probiotic options.

The digestive enzyme im giving her actually has pre and probiotics :-) She also occasionally gets some fortiflora to entice her to eat so she has enough food in her tummy for the meds :-)

At one point she was on milk thistle, SAMe, ursodiol, clavamox (2x a day)...vomiting, not wanting to eat, and on mirtazapine and cerenia to help with the nausea and appetite.

For now I cut out the milk thistle and SAMe. Its important but not as urgent since her last ultrasound showed her liver was healing nicely. If I can get her numbers back down with her letting down the Ursodiol and clavamox, ill add the milk thistle back in 3 weeks, then another 3 weeks and the SAMe.

The problem is that once the nausea or vomiting hit...I have to start all over.

Its all so stressful
