Great news! The new vet is really great and has a solid understanding of diabetes. I explained that Bruce was prescribed 4 units, and I dropped it to 1 of my own accord despite the original vet office's advice.

I showed him Bruce's spreadsheet and he was quite happy with the numbers. He agreed that 1 unit is the appropriate dose for Bruce and obviously absolutely don't go higher for the time being, and he also commented that the curve they did with the original vet wasn't appropriate to base his dosage off of. This new vet is very enthused about charts and spreadsheets and will look them over no charge. He actually listens and knows what he's talking about.

Bruce's freestyle device is set up and he hasn't scratched it off yet. The downside is it turns out my phone isn't compatible with the app. Bit bummed I didn't check that. So I'm having to rush to get a new one tomorrow so I can actually start reading the sensor. The reader will take too long to get here in the mail and tbh I needed a new phone anyway, so that's 2 birds with 1 stone as far as I'm concerned.

If anyone needs the info for future reference: Your phone needs to have Near Field Communication (NFC). If you have a cheaper phone and/or older phone it might not have it (I just assumed mine did). Newer low priced models are more likely to have it but it's best to check.

Thanks to everyone for sticking with me through the initial mess! I'm so glad you all saved Bruce's butt and kept us going all the way to this point! Such a relief to have a vet who agrees with the advice I've been getting here. Finally on the right track.
