Hi! This morning had some issues getting his blood test,

it is normal to get so differet results if you don't full charge of blood the strips?
I always make sure to fill it but today had to do it 3 times because first two didn't fill all of it, but got so different results

First one got 431 the second, even that it had a liiitle more blood than the first got 375 last one and full charge got 509
I have to say that the first two where almost loaded by more than half

Right now I'm using an Abra glucometer (humans) and doesn't have liquid for testing.. but got reviews from vets and was accurate, I know is not the best option but is all I can afford till I save enough for a better one, thanks covid

The accuracy of the meters is about +/-20%. Those value are just withing that accuracy. However, the +/-20% is for absolute accuracy. Since you are using the same meter and maybe the same lot of test strups, I wouod expect the accuracy should be a lot less than +/-20%. Some meters are give "bad" readings if not enought blood but better ones will give an error.

The rule is that if you get an expected BG test again and even again if necessary. For me, the three BG values you received wouod not change any conclusion as to any required actions.

Thank you so much! I'll keep it in mind, just desperate for some low numbers :(

Some meters will give you an inaccurate number when they get too much blood as well. Too little or too much can be an issue. If I get a ton of blood on a strip, I insert a new one into the meter and pull blood off the strip that had a ton on it for a second reading that way I can control the amount of blood the second time.

Noooo:( omg didn't know that too much also could affect, I know what type of strips are you talking but I think mine are different, the blood goes at the tip but inside of the strip and its absorbed, most of the time the blood goes to all of the strip and a liiiittle kinda overflows, but just a little bit cus the strip always stops absorbing when is full

It sounds like mine which is the ReliOn. Sometimes I big drop gets on it because there’s so much blood in her ear. When that happens now I started to collect it onto my nail so I can make sure the strip only gets what it needs. But before I would test a second time as I described above to make sure.

Your Abra Glucometer by manf. Diagnostic, has the exact same self-sip strip technology as Bayer Contour has. I looked yours up and saw myself. Since 2006 with our Bayer Contours, 2, we've never had the problem, ever, with too much blood on it. For 14 long years and it's 2020 now.

What other glucometers brands do you have there in Yucatan, Mexico?
Try look for those already calibrated who doesn't need the test liqiud.
How expensive is things there in Yucatan, Mexico?

Uuuh, I'll try that with my finger, is difficult to achieve?

Wow! That sound promising then! I should trust more in my glucometer hahaha, this new world is kinda scary all time <3

The mos popular ones here are the accu-check, contour, one touch but they're all so expensiveee TT..TT

Well, actually things here are very cheap, but work is reeeaaally bad paid, I lost mine during March due to covid, but work here is so dismissed, that they never even paid me for fire me (4 years of "family team"), and law worthless hahaha a little about me and my beautifull Mexico, has its moments, tho!

Thankfully Merme is a great warrior, partner and my little baby <3 I'll be doing my best for him:cat:

Know you're not alone in this. Always stick with your best partner Merme.
And post for help as soon as you need.
Are there any other Diabetic Cats from Mexico here?
There was someone in Argentina, I think. With a Diabetic Cats Foods list at least for limited in some of the South America countries. Here it is: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/17hF87V3ER1visK1H1Jg_b2iUsd0YT0NGO1wfib5Go1E/htmlview

Andrea As I mentioned in your other thread I hadn't seen your post for some reason I dindn't got the alerts, so I'm not sure if you already solved the problem with the glucose meter and the strips I have been using the Accucheck active, because it only needs a very very tiny drop of blood, you can activate it and take the strip out to collect the blood and then put it back in the meter and the strips are usually very easily available in most drug stores and even in Samborns and on the lower cost range at least here

The Relion is not really easily available here in Mexico
