I’m looking for a pet specific one, not a human monitor. I’ve seen one on the Walmart website and a few on amazon, but they didn’t have reviews and I’m not able to spend so much money without knowing I’m buying a good product. So far the ones that seem to come up on google the most are AlphaTrak (couldn’t find a Canadian seller) and ForaMD, does anyone have experience with those?

I believe the only way to get a pet meter is from your vet, pharmacies only carry human meters. I bought my Alphatrak2 from the vet when I first started out, then found AT2 strips on Amazon for a while which worked, until it didn't. The meter may pass across Canada Customs if you buy on Amazon, but I have had issues with test strips for AT2 being held up at the border. They finally released them to me, after about 1 month but it made me wonder why they held them in the first place. The strips are still pricey even on Amazon. I am not familiar with ForaMD.

My vet told me they don’t sell them to pet owners, but if anyone knows a vet who will sell me one in the lower mainland that would be amazing!

Omg, I don't know what to say to that. That basically means they don't believe in home testing. Tagging @Wendy&Neko , apologies, but is lower mainland BC...saying that slightly embarrassed from the other side of the mountains.

but is lower mainland BC
Yes, it's our code phrase for Vancouver/lower Fraser Valley area. :p

My vet once tried to sell me the AT, probably after the Abbott salesman had been in to see her. She got no sale from me, she wasn't surprised, she was still using the Onetouch human meter in her clinic. ;) I kept using my human meter, like most of the people here do. That particular vet has since moved to another clinic (the old one was taken over by VCA :() so don't know if she can still sell AT meters. She is now in West Vancouver.
