10/27 - GIDEON BLUE - AMPS=276, +3=115, +4=99, +5=147, +9=174, PMPS=129, +2=134

I think I have decided that my lowest BG to shoot in the AM will be 100, and 120 in the PM. Tonight Gideon was 129, and I fed him 6% carb food. I will retest at +1, +2 and +3, then will get up at probably +6 just to make sure he is not dropping too low. If Gideon is 100 some morning, do you think I should should give a lower dose rather than not give any insulin at all? I know this goal is to shoot low, but when do you actually not give a full dose. I know dose reductions are when they go below 68, but today he could have gone that low, but I tried to stabilize him by giving 12% carb food at +4. I am just trying to be prepared rather than have to give a 911 email. Thanks.

What is your ability to monitor during the daytime? Every time you have shot green so far, it's been an awesome cycle.

With TR, you eventually move to shooting everything above 68. Of course, your ability to monitor comes into play. If I had to be away all day and couldn't get any testing in, I might purposefully do a fur shot with a low number like that. Also, if a kitty really wants a reduction, they'll usually find a way to show you, especially since all you gave today was a lowish MC. What you should be trying to do now is get him to a combination of dose and feeding that gives him as much time as possible in normal healing BG number. Next time you see him hit the greens, try a couple tsps of LC and see if you can get him surfing or hanging out those upper greens.

Thank you Wendy. He went down to 84 at +3 after PMPS, so I gave him 15% carb, which might have been too much. This is a learning process. He then was at 411 at +7.
I can monitor during the week days, but due to my overnight schedule Saturdays are tough to monitor, since I need to sleep. Husband will test some on Saturday though, if he is home. One good thing is my 17 yr old son actually did the test for +5 last night since he was still awake.
