Good morning. It’s been a few days since I posted. Moe’s been following the same bouncy high/low pattern of yellow-blue-green, with occasional pink thrown in to liven things up. This morning’s amps was a pleasant surprise; I was expecting something higher after his last test last night at 132.

I hope everyone has a good weekend and kitties surf safely.

Hi Erin, not sure if you saw this post that Amy did: https://felinediabetes.com/FDMB/thr...y-on-use-of-cabergoline-in-acromegaly.237241/

I've been meaning to ask, how much does Moe weight? Is he on the 10 ug/kg dose of cabergoline?

Nice AMPS today. :D
Hey Wendy. No I had not seen that post( been off the board for a few days and haven’t looked at the acro forum for a couple of weeks. I’ll go check it out.
Moe weighs 18 pounds and is on the10u/kg dose, so he’s getting 70 mcg of cabergoline per day. He’s gained about a pound since that dosage was determined. Vet wants him to lose a bit of weight.

The question is whether he's gained muscle (which happens with increased growth hormone and IGF-1) or fat. It's very common for acros to gain weight and look like little footballers with good muscles. 10 ug/kg would be 80mcg at his current weight.

I *just* got a 90 day supply of capsules at 70 mcg, of course.

i don’t know how to tell if he’s got muscle or fat. He’s got a big belly, and he’s always been a long tall cat. He was 15 lbs for the longest time, only recently gained the extra couple of pounds. He’s eating Friskies and Fancy Feast pate, 10-12 ounces per day. I’m looking at other food choices, something with lower phos than the FF, since kidney values are creeping up.

Sounds like a typical acrocat. Pot bellies are very common.

Good plan to start thinking of lower phosphorus foods now. Kidney issues are common enough with older cats, even more so with acros, human and cat alike.
