I suggest grabbing a test about 15 minutes before you leave for safety.

- If he's over 100 give him an LC snack and ask your brother to give him another LC snack in an hour (just in case you might get delayed).

- If he's 90-100 give him an MC snack and ask your brother to give him a LC snack in an hour.

- If he's 70-80 post reading before you go. If you don't get a prompt answer give a HC snack and ask your brother to give him a HC snack at 30 minutes and again at 60 minutes.

- If he's below 70 consider cancelling your excursion. (I think he's unlikely to be that low, but he's Blue - and if he goes that low at this point in the cycle then that merits closer monitoring.)

What do you think?

Cool. If your brother notices anything unusual ask him to feed extra. Not sure whether you can leave food down for Blue exclusively, but if yes that's another option.

Keep safe while you're out.

Hi Patty,

Glad you're home safe. :)

Glad to catch this before I sign off for the night. Did Blue get any more food after you fed him the MC snack before you went out and before that test? If he did get the second snack, what was the carb level and how long after he ate it was the test done? (Trying to get a sense of what gave that nice moderate rise for future reference.)

I put a bowl of LC with a small amount of MC in the fridge for Ray to feed +8 and I had given him MC before I left. I tested upon returning and he was 128 +9. I had him feed earlier at 5:30 instead of 6 which would have been +7.5. I was worried. Then on the way home I was worried because I was 10 minutes late. It was so fun to be out!!!

You gone for the night? Hope you can get some sleep. Love to the Noodle.

Thanks for that info, Patty. Between the BG readings and the food notes it's gradually helping you to 'learn Blue' and you'll get a better and better feel for what to feed and when. It's great that Ray was able to help the two of you today. I was glad to know he was there to watch over your Bluebird. :)

Heading off now. Passed on your love to the Noodler and she just gave me lots of nose kisses. I think they must be for you! :cat: Be sure to give that beautiful boy of yours lots of scritches from me.

Wishing you both a safe and smooth night.

146 PMPS he's eating LC and I'm a little early so still need to give him .5

What's the point where I wouldn't give insulin? 130 is what I was told from the vet, but I've already shot lower...it was daytime though.

I'm going to give him his insulin at 146. I just wonder for future reference.
