Yesterday

A yellow for this morning . Don’t understand a bounce perhaps. Why can’t she be .25 for dose? Where she was before. Why is she going up? Can anyone answer that question?

Afternoon Diane! Molly is out of the Lemon tree and straight to the lagoon. Can't understand her . My head is pounding today hopefully this tea will take it away!
When we get more snow ( really hope we don't) I'll take better pictures.

I'm not ready to see snow.
Adrienne, have you checked your calipers measurement against the lines on your syringes? I found discrepancies by over .25u in some cases. I have a thought, which is maybe Molly is getting a bit less insulin since you started dosing with calipers. This happened to Butters and her numbers went up. But then they came back down after a while and we were far better off in the long run for having made the switch.

I don't know if this is what's going on or not; just a thought.

Hi Adrienne, are you able to get a couple more tests after the mid-cycle? I'm sorry if I've asked this before - perhaps you're coming home from work for a mid-day test? I'm curious about what happens after her nice mid-day numbers...is she continuing to go down? Or is she going up? After that nice 135 last night, did she continue to fall?

Usually a yellow AMPS is just the highest reading of the day - except for Luci and she can have a high AMPS and a high PMPS - because the insulin isn't strong enough to last the full 12 hours.

Lovely snow there...brrrr! It's not for me though...I've seen enough snow and I'm snowbirding nowadays...can't wait to get back to 'Summer' in Southwest Florida.

Regarding your question about 'why can't she be .25 for her dose'....it's because her pancreas isn't working as well as it was at that time, and she needs more help from the insulin. Since her pancreas is unable to make enough insulin for her to absorb the nutrients from her food, she'll need to depend on you to help her with a little bit more insulin. Insulin needs can go up and down over time...and the only way to know this is from getting those tests...that's how we know she needs more juice and perhaps as her pancreas heals, she may need less. We only wish we knew the magic formula for getting those little pancreas beta cells to all grow back and take care of business for us...instead of pooping out after a while...and depending on that insulin to feel better.

Hi Sue,
The mid day test is my lunch hour test. I work all week and work out of town. I test Molly more on the weekends. When I am home for lunch she will eat her food. Maybe I should test her again before I leave to go back to work?

Thanks for answering my question. Regarding why her dose has changed. I don’t like seeing the yellows!

No, you don't need to check. I was just wondering if you did. I checked for fun, and I was shocked by how inconsistent the lines are from syringe to syringe. Sorry if my comment confused you.

No, It didn't confuse me but I'm going to check to see if it's accurate from now on thanks Lyla

I just checked a few as a one time thing in the beginning, to get a sense of how "inaccurate" Butters' insulin doses were when I was dosing based on the lines, before I switched to calipers. Now, I use the calipers to measure her dose on the side of the syringe without the lines!
