Given Abby's mid-cycle number of 85, I'm confirming that I'll drop her dose to .25U (down .25U from .5U that I've used the last week or so). I'll continue to shoot at .25U for a week (or numbers otherwise indicate). I'm keeping my fingers/toes/everything crossed that this means Abby may be able to eventually get OTJ and keep her diabetes under control with food going forward.

hi, all, trying to bump this thread up tonight, unfortunately. I caught Abby fairly low at her +2 (56 on AlphaTrak). She ate her LC food and it took her back up to 79 at +2.5. Abby has been fairly stable in 100s and we haven't had a very low number (that I've caught). Tonight I gave her .25U based on her midday number (which is lower dose although I understand still dealing with depot). I know every cat is different, but any thoughts as to reason for sudden low drop given her last few weeks? I'll continue to watch her tonight...so far she is acting fine and I'm comfortable with her at 79.

Some cats respond very well to insulin if the diabetes is caught early and insulin started soon after. :)
A few weeks or months on insulin is enough to get their pancreas working and the need for exogenous insulin drops.

thanks @Bandit's Mom for reassuring words. Just wasn't expecting such a drop for her (and nervous knowing take action number of 68 for AT2 - not sure how much wiggle room there is for that number). I'll try to remain calm and look at it as a good thing assuming I can keep her above 68 during next few tests tonight!

yes, seeing better numbers is both thrilling and scary at the same time! :-)

is there a reason you aren't following TR? you test enough. TR provides more room for cats to be on a dose that allows them to see good healing greens. better chance for remission.

Abby and I didn’t have an easy time testing at the beginning and she really liked kibbles (until I finally had to cut her off as she started eating more and more kibbles in lieu of the FF). I will take a closer look at TR and see if I can make the switch over now that she is solely on wet food and she is tolerating testing most days. I would love for her to go into remission so definitely want to maximize those odds. Thanks again.
