Yes, we were thinking about that...not sure what to do about his shot tonight. If last food was at +10.5, you'll have to think about options for PMPS, assuming he's over 90. At earliest you'd have to shoot 1/2 hour late.

Tried to piece together a bit of a summary for you of Cosmo's dramatic dropsie based on your comments as best I could:
54 @ +9 Fed 2 tbsp of gastro wet (HC)
31 @ +9.75 Rubbed honey on gums, fed 1/4 tsp honey, 3 tsp gravy and he is eating. (ravenous and a bit wobbly)
49 @ +10 Fed HC gravy
47 @ +10.25 Rubbed honey on gums
65 @ +10.5 Fed kibble pieces
Steady number, eh? Do you think the kibble hasn't kicked in yet? I don't know how long it takes. Otherwise, I'd want a test at +11 I think. What do you think?65 again at 10.75. So steady...

Argh! Cosmo isn't going to make this easy.Kibble takes longer to enter the blood stream, I think. I think Megacolon kitties also have slower absorption...so double whammy.
Yep! Will grab a +11.
Thanks for all your help an encouragement!!![]()
It's nice to be able to be here for you, too.
appreciated! Not so much, the carbs from kibble do take longer to leave the system though. The two hours after last HC guidelines for carbs wearing off might be later for kibble.Kibble takes longer to enter the blood stream, I think.
for supporting and cheering us on in the background

Congrats on the reductions and happy gotcha day!! Hope he stays up for you!
I was up in the stands, heart well and truly in mouth...

Ok, rest well! Thanks again!Tanya, you and DH were superstars tonight!Enjoy the wine. Scritches to Cosmo. I'm going to try to get some sleep before Butters' next alarm goes off.
We were thinking that draining the depot a bit isn’t a bad idea. He had been teasing a reduction for days.He may be more sensitive to insulin after symptoms. I know it’s frowned upon here but I will say this anyway. I would consider skipping tonight. He was low for so long.
Yes he has been toying with the reduction and he made it super clear. When the depot is too full this happens. We were thinking that draining the depot a bit isn’t a bad idea. He had been teasing a reduction for days.
In terms of being more sensitive to insulin...do you think 3 units is still ok tomorrow? Or... how sensitive do they become?
Super weird so late in the cycle too!? He is usually all done his exciting work by +5.
I work tomorrow, but DH is home. Figures...If you skip tonight he’s likely to be high tomorrow morning so the 3.0 will be fine. You will just need to keep a close eye on him to see if he’s more sensitive or not. It’s not a sure thing. Are you off tomorrow? I really think skipping tonight to drain the depot is a good idea.
+12.5 is 95... or high enough to shoot I don’t think. Skip it is. He’s not really hungry yet either.

It’s true, we do test enough, and did TR with Elie, but Cosmo needs to eat RC gastro kibble to treat his megacolon, so we are excluded from TR.I notice on Cosmos SS that youre doing SLGS but have enough numbers to do TR? Or maybe that doesn't matter?
Just coming down from our adrenaline rushHe should be fine. You two must be exhausted. You will sleep well tonight.
Thanks Elise! I had a great day!I didn’t know it was your birthday! Wine yes and a delayed celebration tomorrow. Happy Birthday and Gotcha day.![]()
Me too...He didn’t drop and you didn’t shoot so he’s okay. I’m glad you skipped.
