Hello! I'm having a bit of a mental break down over here and I am now worrying myself sick. Tigger was 98 at shot time. I rechecked him to make sure and he was 101. I had to run and pick up dinner, so since I was a tad bit early, I waited for his shot. I rechecked in 45 minutes when I got back home and he was 107.

I convinced myself with his numbers he has, he will continue to go up and by the time the insulin kicks in, he will be fine. However, the second I gave his shot, I am now freaking out thinking I shouldn't have done it. And I am here, once again, needing to be talked off my crazy ledge.

Did I do the wrong thing? Am I horrible? I have all supplies, am able to test as necessary.

I just upped to 15.5u this AM. I haven't posted in a bit as we have been doing fine, as in nothing out of the ordinary for Tigger, his usual blue/yellow numbers and still the same symptoms (starving/peeing too much). I am limping him along to his acro/IAA testing on November 16th, trying not to increase too far as he is getting quite expensive. I am hoping for the addition of Cabergoline if his acro testing comes back postive, but that's another day.
ANYWAY,
HELP! I am sure he will be okay, but I also need to hear someone say it.

Congrats on your lowest shot ever. You did fine. Great actually. :bighug: Levemir kitties often nadir late, it's not unusual to be shooting lower number. Tigger's dinner will help bump him up a bit, then you still have a few hours to onset so he should keep rising. However, just in case you need to intervene with carbs early (and to gather data), try getting a +1 and a +2.

Yes, I definitely plan on it. Thanks for the reassurance. I know shooting lower numbers is necessary, this is just the lowest ever so it's nerve wracking! *deep breath*

Congrats on shooting your first blue number! Yeah! The insulin is finally working :)

Great job on the testing...keep posting to let us know how you guys are doing. It's great to look around at other condos to see how others handle those low number pre-shot situations...it'll help to build your confidence.

See you soon :) Nice job this evening :)

It's easier once you've done it a few times and find what Tigger will do. I remember a lot of gulping when I first shot low. :p Eventually it was a snooze shooting 50's.

I have been a nervous wreck about shooting low numbers as well. At first, I was terrified to shoot anything lower than 150. My vet agreed. But then I read an article that said you have to shoot low to stay low. That changed my whole perspective. Now I shoot when Phoenix's Preshot is in the 80's. I monitor until his numbers rise. Phoenix always rises after eating.
