10/19/20 - Squeaky!! - AMPS 406 (PM +8=375) +6.5=200 PMPS = 419

Morning Jan and Squeaky :bighug: Don't let self-doubt get the best of you - you are doing great! I'm sure you just haven't found the right dose for Squeaky. It's so hard to be patient when our kitties aren't feeling well (don't ask me for a pair of patience pants...I don't own any :p). Have a great day!

Thanks, Suzanne, you can see I have zero tolerance for my cat not being well......... :banghead:

Also I'm probably the biggest self-doubter in the world. It seems to be one of my superpowers LOL.

Is he getting into any contraband? Anything else troubling him?

I presume you moving injection sites and not shooting at the same place every day?

Yes moving injection sites. On the left in the morning. On the right at night. Sometimes closer to neck, sometimes lower.

Contraband? No, but he does eat A LOT. All meat (and his organ/egg/calcium treat). He hasn't gained weight.

Thanks Bhooma.

Have you tried shooting on the tummy or side? That’s where I shot. I think the increase was needed. Too long on a dose can cause glucose toxicity causing the dose to go up and up until you crack it. It looks like stopping the prednisolone won’t cause a quick fix. It takes time when a cat has been on it for some time. I hope this dose brings better bg numbers but be prepared to need more increases. :bighug:

Good to know...... I appreciate your wisdom and your sharing!!!

Since we went from AMPS 406 to +6.5=200, do I need to test again or just wait until PMPS? Hmmm, we have 4.5 hours until PMPS, his number would have to come down 150 points but usually it's going up at this time.....

Right?

Surely with the insulin increase, the night seems like it has a chance of being active...... I better get a nap in this afternoon.

Hi Jan, would you mind adding 'TR' to your SS...I see it in your signature, but I was looking at your SS - and you could add it right there at the top where it says 'Dosing Method (SLGS or TR):

Best of luck with your increase tonight - I hope Squeaky comes down soon...oh those old bounces...never look good on the SS...but soon he'll be doing better...just stick with the course your on :)

Sue, thanks so much for the housekeeping reminder! Done, and I also changed the dose amount in the signature, and took the question mark off this thread. It's a lot to keep track of changing so I appreciate reminders so much.

Thanks a bunch! I kind of got an intuitive hit how this works from reading the post by Elise. Sounds like we will keep increasing the dose until one day, all of a sudden, we'll reach critical mass and it will work. I'm hoping for that day soon! The patience is the hard part, huh? (Plus all the sticks in the poor kitty's ears!!!!)

I will start him on 2 units today.

Maybe I'm not shooting him right or something? Could that be why his numbers are so high?
Good luck with the new dose. I bet you're shooting him right. I can't tell you how many times I wrote in the remarks section of my SS about how I think I may have done a fur shot, because Butters' numbers were stuck high. It's not you. Keep taking your increases. And I can find a pair of patience pants for you if you'd like ;):bighug:.

Thank you again for this, I need to keep rereading it..... Not sure about the tummy shot though. Thank you!
