? 10/13 Henri AMBG 115 OTJ day 6. High numbers and OTJ SS

Someone (I apologize, I can't remember) Commented a link of how I could look at other OTJ spreadsheets? I' a bit computer illiterate but I can't seem to find any of them...Only the one where they actually posted the link.

I just wanted to look at other spreadsheets bc I am getting bit concerned about how her numbers have gone steadily up. She was 115 this morning and I know that's withing normal range and 115 and 95 are essentially the same number bc of meter variance but I am still getting nervous that she won't make it through this trial :(

Can someone give me the idiots guide to finding other OTJ spreadsheets? and thoughts on the 115 this morning? I have work but I'll have my husband test to make sure it comes back down
 
Henri is still mostly green and the AMPS is low blue. I don't think you have to worry as long as he keeps bringing his numbers down to green. Have you tried feeding him a snack at +9 in the PM cycle to see if it brings his AMPS down? Sometimes that works. As far as OTJ numbers go, look at the 2016 tab on Furball's SS. You'll see the numbers I got when she was off insulin.

Oh I didn't know this was "a thing"! Elise told me to try this for Jax and after two days we have a green on his current dose. Definitely worth a try to see if it helps!

Thanks! I'll check it out. Currently she eats 50-60 cals at AMBG, 25-30 at +5.5, 50-60 at PMGB and 25-30 at +6
I was thinking of balancing them out so all the meals are closer to 40-45 cals/meal. Would that help? Can I ask why +9 to help bring it down? like why that number...and why would a snack bring it down. Sorry...this is probably a dumb question or something I should know by now lol Maybe I'm not really understanding how the food works with no insulin involved

I'm not sure why feeding at +9 works, but it usually does. I think it stimulates the pancreas to work and bring the numbers down. I'm not sure about dividing the food up. You normally don't want to feed too much after nadir.

Hmmmm Interesting her nadir was pretty early +2-+4 before we took her off the insulin.

Tomorrow I'll try a +9 and see if that helps
 
Awesome my husband just tested at 2.5 and shes down to 63.

So its ok that her number goes up into the hundreds like that...its more important that she comes back down in a normal range then?

I've heard that more smaller meals are better throughout the day but it sounds like 2 bigger meals might be better bc of not feeding after the nadir?
 
Small meals spaced out are better for cats for many reasons but for diabetes it helps by avoiding the super highs and lows just like with humans. There’s no such thing as a nadir when not on insulin. The nadir only applies to how low the insulin takes the cat. Normal bg is around 50-120 so she’s still in the range. I also suspect that for some cats normal is lower than for others. :D

Ah...ok I'm processing then lol
If feeding at +9 is best...maybe I'd move her +5.5 meal to +9 or add in a +9 and divide the calories up between them so shes not overeating
 
My kitty, Blaze, is OTJ if you want to look at his SS. I feed the same as when he was on the juice. Breakfast, small snacks at +3, 6, 9 then dinner and small snacks at +3, 6, 9. Snacks are about a tablespoon each. I use an auto feeder.

The small snack at +8 or +9 can help get that sputtering pancreas to send out some of it's own insulin, bringing down the preshots a few hours later. If you have an autofeeder, you can try setting it for overnight as well.

I haven't gotten her to eat out of the autofeeder but ill try again this weekend

I found small bowls that fit in the auto feeder, it seemed easier for Blaze to eat out of it that way. I got three small silver bowls from Walmart and put snacks in those and then into the auto feeder. Maybe that would help!
