Chloe ate a small amount and just vomitted

She's up to 84. I gave her a few treats and I'll give her more food and test again in an hour. If she's over 100 I guess I'll give her insulin, but it will be putting my schedule behind one hour. Or should I not give any insulin? I really don't want to skip a dose again. I think she's still on a bounce from the last skip.

Since I haven't heard from anybody, I've decided to go back to my vet's instructions. I won't shoot if she's under 200.
Hello, I’m so sorry no one was able to respond to you in time to help...

It looks like an active day cycle with that 51. How did Chloe feel? I’m not sure if you grabbed a test or two after to make sure the surf stayed over 50?

Hope you have a good evening and Chloe is keeping food down?

Hi Roberta,I'm sorry no one was around for you.
How is Chloe now? Has she stopped vomiting?

Looking at the SS, if you get a BG of 51 it is always a good idea to test again 1/2 or an hour later to ensure she has not dropped lower. I would also have given her a good snack with that reading. We don't know what she did between the 51 and the 78 at+11.
I think she bounced from the 75 PMPS 2 days ago more than the skip, although that would not have helped. She came of the bounce this cycle.

Thank you for responding. I decided not to shoot because she was only at 127 and my vet said not to shoot if she's under 200. So, of course, this morning, she jumped to 411. I immediately gave her .5 even though my vet said .75 if her BG is over 400. Meanwhile, Chico and Cheddar keep chasing Stray away and I have to go outside to catch them and bring them in. Cheddar (I think) chewed the cord apart of a brand new Echo Dot and also ran around crazy yesterday and knocked everything off a table. Chloe has been good and I saw her take a poop in the litter box this morning, although she keeps peeing in the area where the rug meets the kitchen floor. I'll have to tear out that carpet.

Thank you for responding. Chloe always goes for the dry food and every time she eats it, it comes back up. I had given her a few treats after the 51, so I wasn't worried she'd go lower. She didn't spit those up.

@Roberta and Chloe How is Chloe feeling today? Did she stop vomiting and is she willing to eat? If she’s still acting unwell, you might want to get a ketone test for good measure.

Between the 51 mid cycle BG yesterday (and a very real chance that she went even lower than that) and last night’s skipped shot, you might see a high preshot today.

You’ve made good progress and I strongly encourage you to stay the course at no more than 0.25u and not be tempted to bump up the dose (assuming she’s still negative for ketones). As your vet said, better too high for a day than too low for a minute. And you’ve seen the bounce break quickly in recent cycles.

If you’re dosing conservatively, such as in Start Low Go Slow, yesterday’s 50’s number would have earned a dose reduction. It’s hard sometimes to grasp that a lower dose can work better, but it might give you the ability to shoot the PM dose and not have to skip. Chloe does seem to like the lower doses. :)

You might want to try 0.1u, or thereabouts. It really comes down to drops of insulin sometimes. It’s just a thought, and maybe worth an experiment to give that lower dose a chance. I’ve had to do micro-dosing in my crew and it was stunning the impact that even a drip or two had on Charlie at one point. You’ve been getting valuable data and starting to see patterns. Hopefully that will help your efforts.

Edited to add: oops, we cross-posted. I typed this awhile ago but just finished it and posted before I saw your additional posts. Hope Chloe has a good day.

Thanks, JL (what's your first name?). I'm getting fed up with having to clean up after these cats all the time! I never seem to be able to get my house sorted out. The weather is starting (finally!) to cool down a bit and I need to get my winter garden started, too. But, first thing today, I'm going to fill out my mail-in ballot. That takes priority over everything. Chico goes to the vet on Monday.
