Very glad to do a wee bit to help you, Patty. As I said to Sally on her thread, we're only cheering you on. It's you two that are doing all the hard yards.
There's no way of knowing that, Patty. You followed the directions given by the vet in good faith, but in addition to that you straight away took control of Blue's treatment and sought additional information about how best to manage Blue's diabetes, and learned to home test. You are doing a marvellous job of caring for your beautiful Bluebird and you have kept him safe all the way. (((Patty)))
I was looking for spreadsheets for kitties previously treated with Novolin N earlier today. If you want to see something
really scary, have a look at Woody's one:
So many stories like above. So sad at times. You are doing great with Blue Patty. Just look at how his ss has changed recently for a reminder. You took a leap of faith and trusted us. It’s hard to ignore a vet. Good things come to those who help themselves and seek answers.

12 units BID!!! Of Novolin N!!! On a preshot in the 200s!!!! Nadir BG in the 20s!!!!!! On an Alphatrak!!!!!!!!!
My jaw went through the floor when I answered that thread.

Expletives were uttered.
The only reason Woody's numbers got as high as they did was because the vet put him onto Hill's w/d (crammed to the gunwales with carbs). Ironically, the w/d was the only thing that kept him going long enough until his mama could find better info about feline diabetes and insulin treatment. Her other cat was also being overdosed, though not as badly. Thankfully their mama was able to manoeuvre them both back to safety, with a little info from FDMB. And Woody went into remission very quickly once he was switched to a low-carb diet. (I'm not 100% convinced he was ever diabetic in the first instance.)
