Peeka got home from the vet today, checked a PMPS and got 228, stalled, got 226. Called the vet to see how to proceed, but curious what everyone here thinks?
I'm not really comfortable giving a number with all the elements involved. I know with Panic I gave a half dose when she stopped eating with pancreatitis and then my vet didn't get her her insulin like I asked and by the next day she'd developed small ketones (!!). ECID but I'm at the point where I'm afraid to suggest anything.Yeahh me too...I honestly couldn't say.I'm not really comfortable giving a number with all the elements involved. To answer your question, she was ravenous. She wouldn’t let me not feed her lol. Retested after she had some food and was up to 303, I’ll be able to retest during the night as wellI do think a reduced dose is wise though I'm really not sure by how much due to lack of data as of late. Is she eating well? I don't like the idea of skipping with pancreatitis involved, it'd be inviting ketones.
OK! I guess you will find out...Sending positive vibes!!!!I wound up giving normal dose since her BG increased in that time and I’ll be home to monitor. I’ve also got snacks at the ready.
I always try and leave her wanting a little bit more. I actually took some food away from her, she was eating so quickly and I didn’t want her throwing it right back up. Part of the lower numbers could be due to her not eating much recently? I don’t know that she ate at the vet today or last night.Does that sound like safe enough territory @Panic?
Dont let her get too full in case she needs to eat later. I think study her trends and do what makes you comfortable Peter.
I’ve also noticed her curve happening a bit later on in the cycle before I took her to the vet. I’ll test hourly though if needed.Yes it could. Just keep an eye on her...
Sounds good. I have just wondered about that some times since I feel like things got worse after insulin was started. But then I look at the numbers and know they tell a different story. It happens, some cats only need a diet change and no insulin. In Peekas case she needs insulin therapy until hopefully remission, which would be diet-controlled at that point.
