Not for me thankfully, I'm talking with someone offsite with a cat with early kidney disease and she commented she was feeding half K/D half FF due to cost. I already told her that FF is too high in phos and k/d is too low in protein but was wondering what commercial foods are recommended for early kidney disease. Here's what she said, would be awesome if someone could explain the info to me lol
Also found Tanya's site for CKD but it's a little daunting - is there a food chart somewhere I've overlooked?
Oh, good to know - we're still super early in talking about the kidney stuff so maybe why the vet hasn't raised the phosphorus issue yet.
She got I-133 for her hyperthyroidism which seems to have worked (possibly a little too well, I'm waiting on a final consult about her T numbers to see if the vet thinks they are ok or if we now need to treat for hypothyroidism (grr). As expected, once that was treated, it uncovered the kidney issues. As of her 6 month bloodwork she still has elevated BUN and Creatinine, her phosphorus is good, and her SDMA is just at the upper limit for normal. Her urinalysis is all good. So, I'm cautiously optimistic. The vet is even only recommending the "early" k/d for now (only annoying thing is that stuff is even harder to find, thankfully PetCo has it for delivery).
