So last night when giving Henri her insulin shot, she moved and I jerked back my hand as I was shooting (I think). It all happened so fast. I didn't feel anything wet on her fur but she is only on a half unit. I'm thinking she may have gotten some but not all of it in? Could that have caused what you see in her chart? Last night she dropped low...into the low 50's but never below 50 as far as I could tell so I thought that I had gotten her full dose in...but then this morning her +11 and her AMPS were higher than normal. I know it's only the low blue (although I expect she might go up even more for her +1) and it's still probably within meter variance. I was told she could get another reduction. I was holding off until tonight or tomorrow morning bc of her vet appointment today and how the stress could raise he BG.

Have I totally messed up all the work we have been doing? or will she get back to her norm within a few days. Does this mean she doesn't earn her dose reduction and we have to wait another full week or wait to see if she drops below 50?

I'm pretty bummed about this, I can't believe I jerked the needle back. It was just a reflex and I know she can jerk and I always tell myself to keep that needle in until i'm done shooting

Morning, Katie! FWIW, I think Henri still looks wonderful! I know it can be upsetting about fur shots (or maybe you didn't have one!). Her last cycle looks very similar to AM of 9/28. If it were my cat, I'd still stick with your plan of reducing after the vet. If the reduction doesn't hold, you just come back to this dose.

I just think these kitties get us self-doubting even though everything is okay :bighug: Hang in there - hope everything at the vet goes okay.

Thanks for your input! I guess as long as she looks like she is still going down around her +2-+4 I'll continue with the dose reduction. I'm looking at the "Tilly's Diabetes Homepage, Tight Regulation with Lantus and Levemir" and I don't see how long you're supposed to wait to see if the reduced dose is taking.

100% My Henri girl always has me worrying and doubting. The fist handfull of times I really could't tell if I got the shot and I had to use logic and watch my finger push the plunger bc the dose was so small you could't feel yourself push it! I'bve gotten better but I still try to watch the plunger go down for peace of mind lol

Things like fur shots, etc. happen. If numbers go up, given what Henri's SS looks like, they will come back down again!

Just an FYI, a week in normal range numbers qualifies for a dose reduction.

How long do you wait to see if the dose reduction is taking before you raise it back up to the previous dose? Her +1 went down to 71 so I think we're good. Lately she wasn't going down until the +2 so I was worried she might go up into the mid hundreds. Just a nervous momma again lol

Thank you all for putting up with me! lol

So, Henri is back after her vet visit for her covenia injection. Oh, and had I not clarified and insisted on the vet tech coming out (bc I wasn't allowed in) they would have given her a cerenia injection!
Anyway, We are home and her numbers are the highest they've been in over a week. I was told to do a reduction to 1/4 U but I wanted to make sure bc I know stress can raise BG. Do you think I should go ahead with the reduction tonight, Tomorrow...or give it a few days to make sure her numbers return to their norm.
Her vert visit was at +6 and that's typically when she's on her way back up. Thoughts on what I should do?

Thanks! Yeah, I just wanted to double check bc she does have a couple blue numbers in there. She's dropped into the low 50's but has always brought herself back up from them :) off to bed for me! I get to nap in the evening and then sleep from about 1:30-6:30. This I can survive on lol
