Could the vomiting be on account of a hairball?

Was it one a one-time thing? Sometimes cat also vomit if they eat too much too soon (scarf and barf).

I think cats can sense if the food has gone bad. Have there been any changes to his food recently?
 
No signs of hairball in the vomit. He's been on LC FF since diagnosis in late August. Initial rounds of vomit were liquid but clearly had some food residue but didn't seem like S&B. Subsequent rounds got lighter with less food. In hindsight, I think he vomited more before his diagnosis than I realized. He has vomited a few time since starting Lantus but not too many. I was worried due to recent dosing changes. The plan is to start .5 am & pm in the morning.

The occasional vomiting is okay, but not if its a regular feature.
