I was looking for some LC cat treats at Publix but didn't see any. I know you guys have mentioned some freeze dried treats, etc. Would you mind terribly providing a link to anything I can order off Amazon or other online shopping? Emma just isn't getting in a complete 200 calories a day and she's looking for that candy dry food I got rid off. I really need some treats to fill the gap. A small type of treat on top of her FF can also entice her back to the bowl.

Thank you for repeating your suggestions. I just can't seem to find the thread where some treats were mentioned. If there is a link here that has dry food suggestions also, I would like to look into that for the other cat. Tony tends to inhale canned food and take 2 steps and throw it up. Dry food slows him down.

For treats, what about some freeze-dried shrimp or similar from PureBites? They are available online.

I have some freeze-dried fish puffs, but don't know the brand since I had put them into a ziploc bag awhile ago. They might even be for dogs? My cat is not interested in them while they are still dry because they are a weird, lightweight texture (kind of like a Cheeto) made of flaked fish. But I discovered a couple days ago that they are irresistible if I put some water on them. They instantly soak the water up like a sponge and then I shred them into flakes with my fingers. It's working great for keeping him focused on picking up those bits from a saucer while I get a BG reading, and he even licks up the water left behind.

He also loves 100% salmon from one of those pouches you can get at the grocery store, where they stock the tuna (human variety). Makes more of a mess when I'm trying to get a bit in front of him though.

Thank you Jane. I'm hoping to add some calories so I'm looking for chicken and maybe beef? Do I go to Chewy and search for freeze dried treats and look at all the nutrition labels? Amazon lists a huge range of things when I look there. Oh, and I did look at the links for food and treats on Binky's page but that looks pretty out of date.

Awesome! I finally found the replies and I see people bought the PureBites and Vital Essentials. I will look at Chewy's website tomorrow and order.

Good news. Emma actually ate 1/2 can at 1 sitting around 8pm! Excellente'!! And it was the Beef and Chix FF. So we shall have some interesting smells from the litter box tomorrow, no?

Ahhh....the classic "scarf and barf"

Try spreading it out thinly on a flat plate instead of piling it into a bowl....or you can put a big rock or golf ball in the bowl that will force him to eat around it which will slow him down.

There are also special bowls and mats you can buy that are designed to slow down how fast they can eat (which are based on the 2 "cheap" options I said above)

My cats have never much liked PureBites, but they love the Orijin freeze-dried treats. The Original flavor is easy to crumble and use as a topping. Which can help with a cat who is inclined to hold out for a better offer.

Note that you'll have to go to Amazon for this. After Chewy was acquired by PetSmart, Orijin stopped selling through them.

Hi Sue
Mac & my 2 non-diabetic kitties love the Thrive freeze dried cat treats. I use the chicken and sometimes the tuna. They also do other flavours. The beauty is these are 100% chunks of meat or fish freeze dried nothing added at all. Some of the pieces are quite big but break up very easily by hand. The other beauty of these is that you can crumble them on top of other food. That is an ideal use for the crumbs\dust at the bottom of the tubes too. I use the crumble on top trick to bribe Mac back to his food bowl when he tries to run off before I get his injection done ! :)
I can't send you a link as I am in the UK not the USA like you. Zooplus UK sells them so I am sure the US one will too. The best tip is to Google and search around a bit as prices vary a lot especially when you add delivery charges in. You may find your local supermarket has them. Here Sainsburys do but others don't.
All the best to you & your kitties.
Gill
PS forgot to say but because they are freeze dried they have long best before dates.

Okay. Emma loves the PureBites chicken. So I crumbled a little bit onto her food. She loves that, but now she holds out smelling to see if that treat is on the food! Little Miss Thing is really trying to game the system here. lol. Oh well, she's got to eat what's in the bowl. So I just put the tiniest crumbs on the food and she does eat some of the food with it. I just want to be careful cause she really likes that stuff.
Thanks everyone for the tips!

Thank you for sharing these! Not only does Little Bit love them, but my other three kitties as well! They wanted to tear into the bag this evening. :cat:
