9/05 JASMINE'S BG/NEW DOSE?

Hi all! Been a while since Ive been on. Ive had a lot of work done in house and went back to work 3 weeks ago. So Jasmine's BG levels have mostly been in the 300's. She still occasionally urinates outside of litter box. I took Jasmine to vet 2 days ago for check up. He did urinalysis and blood to check fructosamine. Sugar in urine and her fructosamine is 584! He called today and said to bump up her insulin to 3 units. I currently give her 1.75 but he thinks I've been giving her 2. I know I should not bump up a whole unit! Should I go to 2 units? I notice sometimes when she gets a fur shot, her level actually goes down a bit. Also, since being at work and during construction I have not been able to monitor as much. I have a few days off now and will monitor more. Thank you!

I would definitely bump the dose to 2.0 units. You don't want to hold a dose too long if it's not giving you the nadirs you want and it looks like Jasmine is mostly above 200. You've been great at getting those before bed tests, a little more daytime data will help now that you can.

A favour to ask on the spreadsheet, when you do a fur shot, could you put that in the dose columns instead of or in addition to the Remarks column. So something like 1.75 FS will tell us you did a fur shot, but intended to do 1.75 units. That will make it easier to notice and it does impact dosing, though you have more than enough data to increase now.

Are you testing regularly for ketones? Jasmine has been in higher numbers and I worry when I see "lethargic" on the spreadsheet.

Thank you. No I haven't tested for ketones. I did pick up testers but not sure how to do it for a cat .... ??

Thank you! Will give it a try. I gave Jasmine her new dose of 2 units this morning. Should I wait a week before doing a curve?

You can probably do a full curve anywhere from 4-7 days after starting the new dose, so the depot is full. But you can continue to do spot checks as well whenever you are around to do so.

Good luck with the new dose.
