Not sure what to do. I just dropped her to .75 insulin today. She seems better, hasn't been begging for food and her stomach seems much better settled. But with her BG at 119 on the Alphatrack 2, I'm not sure I want to give the full dose.

I could use some advice

test again in 20-30 minutes without feeding and see if the number goes up without the influence of food.

Are you able to test as much as necessary tonight? Do you have plenty of supplies like strips, high carb food, Karo/honey/syrup?

I don't have the keto strips yet (my Walmart was out and i had to order online), but i can do home BG tests and karo syrup. Her re-test is due in about 10 mins. I'll update with that number.

well, since I got no other advice, I went ahead and fed her, and have her the full dose. I just keep a close eye on her an watch her for hypo tonight. Thanks for the help....

Hi! I'm new here too so can't give much advice but just wanted to say you are in the right place! If you are worried about shooting at the #, test in +1 and +2 and get an idea of what's happening. This was advice given to me as my cat has just started to flirt with lower (healthier!!) numbers. You can post your results here if you have any questions!

Thanks for the response, but I don't think I'll be posting over here any more. I've gotten more support over in the health section. I delayed her shot an hour because I was waiting for someone to give me advice on what to do, and that's just too long.

I'll give one more shot at some help before I give up on this side. She's been holding steady at 91 for the last 3 hours, should I continue testing to find out if she's going to dip or rise? She has been eating pretty steadily, still working on her 3 oz from dinner at 8pm ( its now 12:19am)

Sorry you're not getting a ton of help. I'm not an expert here, but I would say that since Mouse is on a new dose, more info is better. Do you feed her overnight? I'd definitely set an alarm to test her again, just to be safe. Rocket a very bouncy kitty (has an underlying condition, which is why his spreadsheet is so... colorful) so I have to test him all the time. Anyway better safe than sorry. Hope that helps, even if just a little :)

I don't feed over night due to having 3 other cats, all civies. I did just do another test though, and she's starting to climb, not by much, but it's giving me hope that she's not going to drop tonight
Yay! :) Just know that if she's eaten within two hours or so, the slight climb could be temporary from food.

I agree, I would set an alarm for another test. Probably a +6 or a +7. It is normally really quiet this time of night, unfortunately.

I see that you are 'TR ish' in your protocol. Have you chosen TR or SLGS? It will make a difference in the advice you receive. I am not familiar with the pet VS. Human meter conversion, but holding steady is good.

Are you able to update your thread title with the new numbers so others can see that you shot and where the numbers are at a glance :)

Some advice to get more "eyes" on you in this forum. Change the subject prefix to a "?". Many of us look for those to see who has a question that still needs to be answered.

I'm aiming for TR, but I don't fully understand it yet, which is why I'm TR-ish in my signature. I just joined yesterday, and am learning as I go. I'm not good at understanding things on things by just reading, I have to do it a few times before I get it, and read it a few thousand times

I'm so sorry! My mom's doctor called me right after I'd posted with some disturbing news and I was on the phone for quite awhile.

Please don't give up on the forum. There are lots of people who will want to help you.

Anytime you get a Pre-shot number you're not sure about, stall, don't feed and test again in the 20-30 minutes. If the number goes up and you have plenty of supplies, it's usually going to be OK to shoot but you should always plan on getting a +1 and +2 so that you can intervene early with some higher carb food if necessary.

I'm happy to see she has done great tonight. Those are some nice numbers and exactly what you want Lantus to do! A perfect Lantus curve is almost a flat line!

Again, my apologies. I would never just disappear if I encouraged you to shoot unless it was a dire emergency and even then, I'd try to find someone else to take over when I could. That's a tradition we have here.

Her +10 is 104. I know I'm within the stall range for her shot in 2 hours, given her numbers for yesterday, any suggestions?

Nice surfing last night. It looks like you'll be able to shoot this morning if you can monitor as long as needed and have plenty of supplies. I have to go to work. I'll try to check in from work. If you shoot, keep your subject line updated and get a +1 and a +2.

My apologies as well for lashing out passive aggressively. I was scared and frustrated, and very, very tired.
I'm one week post-op on shoulder surgery, with a husband who's terrified of needles, so I'm doing this almost completely on my own, while taking my pain killers at night only.

You're doing an amazing job, Allison, and doubly so considering you're recovering from major operation! Sending best wishes to you for a speed recovery.

It was good to see your note that Mouse seemed more comfortable in herself today. Long may that continue. :)
