I'm really dragging after last night. Thank you again for everyone who stayed up and talked me through my panic on shooting a lower number for the first time. You all are incredible!

Day 2 of shooting 1.5 units. Hoping for a good day.

Plan today is to print off some stickies and find some middle and high carb wet foods that Sissy can eat when she's low. It took me forever to find something she could eat low carb daily that worked with her food allergies, hoping this time it won't be as much of a pain. :)

Good plan. Glad you stuck with TR. You can always change your mind if it’s too stressful but I found if you stick with it green gets contagious It gets less scary but wait until you wake up to a green for the first time. Better than caffeine to get you going. What is she allergic to and what kind of allergy symptoms ?

Oh boy, green in the morning...something to look forward to. lol

We haven't pinned down her allergy yet. But since she was only accepting boiled chicken around her diagnosis, we stuck with that...and added proteins we knew she hadn't had before, like lamb and rabbit. So far so good. Here is the thread from the other day that talks about it. It's easier than typing it out again. That first post in the thread has all the info. https://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB...uss-her-road-to-diabetes.234039/#post-2618458

Ok. I went back and read it. I’ve been on a lot of condos lately and forgot her story. Thanks for the link. So what are you going to do about the mass? At the very least I would consider another ultrasound by a board certified radiologist. What do you think?

Yes, I want to get the ultrasound. I don't want to go back to that vet though. We're going to be moving in the next couple months back to our hometown and I would like to take her to our old vet. I just need to make the call and set up the appointment. I actually need to get a quote on how much it will cost because I will have to save it up to do it. We recently paid off debt so we can move and if at all possible I don't want to use a card to pay for it. :/

Sounds good. I’m glad the novel protein is working but one question. If she ate chicken before then she’s not on a novel protein. She can’t have any protein that’s she’s had before. So if she ate chicken in the past protein was not likely the issue unless she was never allergic to chicken and a different protein was the cause.

Right. She did have chicken before so it was suspect. But...when she wasn't eating anything we tried offering her boiled chicken and figured we'd deal with it if she started licking again. We had to get her to eat. So she did eat that...so we stuck with it as a base when looking at other things she could eat. We had to add in the chicken/lamb/rabbit flavor because she stopped eating just the plain chicken. Even if it's a single protein sometimes down the list it adds fish oil to it and we're trying to avoid anything she's had before so it really limits the search.

It’s amazing how many foods contain chicken, even the supplement packs. It’s why I can’t make my own food for my two because one has skin allergies. It’s easier with raw which I feed because there are plenty single protein raw foods, until she reacts to them all, please no. :banghead: Yes, eating must continue.

Food/food labels are maddening! I wish they were all required to put all the nutritional details the labels...or at least their websites! Would make things a lot easier. Well, easier finding things...not so much on getting the cat to actually eat the food. lol

Chewy.com has the data on all the food it carries. I so agree!

I am running into a lot of tuna in foods that look promising at first. I'm wondering if I JUST use it for lows if it bother her. Or if it would have to be a repeated exposure. This is frustrating.

Too bad there isn't an app you can put in what you do and don't want in a food and it pulls it up. Ingredients, carbs, phosphorus info etc.

There actually are some on a few pet nutrition sites. They work with your vet. I was looking into one but they are opposed to raw.

Yes and any part of the animal including feathers! Susan Thixton is a food advocate for animals. She puts out a list of foods she would feed her animals. She has a news letter called Truth About Food.

@tiffmaxee , Sissy's pmps was 320. Her +10 was high too...is this just her getting used to her dose or is it a bounce?

Yes, she’s bouncing! This too shall pass. I’d get a +3 to see if it’s clearing and probably stop testing for tonight.

I just realized I totally messed up her shot times. I was doing the correction from last night, only moving 15 minutes per cycle and I realized I shot too early tonight...and I moved 15 min this morning too. I shot at 10:50 last night, 50 minutes late from normal. Then 10:35 this morning. I put the timers wrong in my phone. I wasn't supposed to shoot until 10:20 tonight... and I shot at 10:10..which was supposed to be 10:05 tomorrow morning.
How bad will that mess her up? I feel bad, poor cat, hopefully it won't mess with her too bad. :(

Shooting early can act like a slight increase. It’s just an extra 10 early and she’s bouncing. If she’s lower than usual in the morning just wait until the night cycle to move again but I doubt you will need t do that. Watch, she will prove me wrong. Don’t worry about it.

Thank you for the reassurance. Have a good night!
