Apple's numbers are totally baffling us. He seems to have done well with the reductions and low numbers have indicated that, but not with the last reduction and the low AM number for two days. We would expect a high AM number after withholding a shot the day before, only to see a very low number. We've needed to constantly feed him gravy to keep his numbers stable. We really need someone that's seen something like this to tell us if we are handling this correctly or we need to change whatever we're doing wrong.

On TR you can shoot until you get a 50 - would not shoot lower than that.

Looks like skipping shots is causing much higher numbers...hard to tell what happened last after his reduced injection - did you just forget to update your SS?

I'm just taking a moment...have to go back to work...

@Olive & Paula - are you guys still on?

Good morning. I’m not sure why you were feeding gravy when he was above 50. As Sue said you shoot over 50. With TR. That’s a nice run of greens.

Put a ? In your title for more eyes.

You certainly don't want to keep boosting with gravy. I see you took reduction last night. I think since you skipped this morning, leave it at that. Keep the 1.5 dose and see how it plays out. You will probably see high numbers by PMPS so don't panic. He will get insulin at regular time.

That a beautiful run of greens. That what you want across the whole row. Nothing but green without the gravy boosting.

Next time I would feed lc or mc and let a reduction be earned. Then you use gravy to get back up over 50. He likely vomited from too much gravy. Get some rest and take a pokey break until PMPS.

I gave him gravy to keep the numbers green and steady, I wanted to keep him from a hypo in between the tests in case I didn't wake up. Maybe it was an overkill, but I guess my main concern is it normal with two reduction so close together to still have the low am #'s? Or is this an indication of something else I'm not aware of...

Are you asking why didn't we test him more after the first reduction? Not understanding....

What is a lc or mc? I can guarantee you he would've dropped to 50 without the gravy, so just made a decision

If he needs that much gravy he might just be flying down the dosing scale. That happens sometimes. I understand being concerned you might not wake up. I never had a full all nighter. You must be exhausted. Lc is low carb and mc is middle carb. I often fed mc to Max to keep him from earning a reduction but I just think if hc and karo aren’t bringing them up in a hour it just might be too much juice.

Flying down, is that a good place to be at?

I think so. Apple appears to like to drop at night when you need to sleep. I would have shot this morning. I would have stalled and not fed and tested in 20-30 minutes to see if he was coming up and shot. It was a shootable number because you skipped last night especially.

LC food is under 10% carbs. Some cats will come up and surf nicely at the high end of lc, like 7-10% Whole Earth duck is 7% now. Nature Balance in the pouches is 14-19% carb would be mc. Anything over 20% is high carb food.

Yes, I agree and actually told my daughter if he hadn't have had food we should've waited the 1/2 hour...So basically there is no rhyme or reason for the sliding down the dosage thing and we'll just keep an eye on him and let him dictate how we continue
