Hi there. I was feeling pretty good about Milo’s numbers after increasing to 3.5 units of Lantus (Tight regulation protocol). But he’s bouncing today after 5 cycles at the new dose. The lowest he’s gone is 178, that I’m aware of. I haven’t been able to stay home and test more frequently. Mostly he’s stayed in the 200’s. His numbers were fairly consistent until today when he went from AMPS 194 to 432@ +3. At +9 he was only down slightly to 360. PMPS was 362 and +3 290

Milo hasn’t been eating hardly at all the past 24 hours. His new package of raw food is turkey, which he loved the last few rotations. Could it be that he’s feeling lousy so not eating? Out of desperation, again, I gave him the w/d canned food that he loves. He ate that and I mixed in a little bit of raw.

So, tomorrow morning should I look at increasing to 3.75? I know I have to make sure he’s not too low AMPS. How low is too low??
Thanks for your help.

I think I'd hold the 3.5 just a couple more cycles. Some cats take more than 6 cycles to settle into a dose. Since he's fairly new to blue numbers, we suggest holding the dose for 8-10 cycles.

If he's below 150, you'd want to stall, DON'T FEED and test again in 20-30 minutes to see if the number goes up without the influence of food. I suggest using that time to post here with a very clear subject line like "STALLING! NEED HELP!"....LOL (it usually gets somebody's attention!...then you can go back and edit it)

A lot of whether you'd shoot or not depends on what happens in that 20-30 minutes and whether you're going to be able to test as much as necessary during the cycle.

Arggg... I didn’t get this notification and missed your valuable advice. Now I’ve done everything wrong. I stalled, I fed. Now I don’t know what to do.

Thank you. I’ll know this for next time. I gave .75 as this was the advice at the time. We want to be cautious because I can’t be here all day. I didn’t know I shouldn’t feed until after I did it. I did feed at the usual time but he didn’t eat much. Then it was offered again before the shot and he had a better feed but still before I gave him the token dose.

Get another test. If numbers are rising, how about sticking with the 3.5u and shooting? Did you feed at the usual time?

Remember, if you stall, don't feed.
