3-month recheck for CKD cat, blood test results came back, need advice

Hello everybody,

Yesterday we took our CKD cat, Kitty, to the vet for a 3-month recheck. Here are some "ABNORMAL" results, compared to the ones on 05/02/2020. The vet didn't prescribed medications in the last 3 months, just Hill's K/D canned food. I haven't had a chance to talk to him about her new results. I am not sure if Kitty needs any medications this time. So please give me any advice. Thank you all.

Just typed Kitty's lab results into Nathan's SS.

The main changes are:
SDMA 27 (5/2/2020), 23 (8/1/2020)
Creatinine 3.5 (5/2/2020), 3.7 (8/1/2020)
BUN 69 (5/2/2020), 59 (8/1/2020)
Creatine Kinase 151 (5/2/2020), 773 (8/2/2020)
MCH 16.3 (5/2/2020), 16.6 (8/2/2020)
Phosphorus 4.2 (5/2/2020), 5.7 (8/2/2020)

She is on canned food of 25-35% protein, 130-150 mg/100kcal phosphorus.

She eats about 5oz canned food each day. I also add 4-5oz extra water to the food and she drinks most, if not all.

She urinates 2-3 time a day, relatively large volume. Bowel movement every 2 days, no diarrhea.

She is also on the supplement of KIDNEY SUPPORT GOLD by Pet Wellbeing.

I hate to ask this but... Could you enter the lab values on Nathan's spreadsheet? It's much easier to compare the current values to the previous set of labs and to have the reference ranges right there.

Nathan is not the CKD cat. Nathan was diabetic, but in remission since 06/21/2020.

The cat with CKD is Kitty, and she is not diabetic. Do I still need to set up a SS for Kitty?
 
Sorry, my bad.

You could put a tab on Nathan's SS and copy over the info from the labs. It's very tedious work to not have the reference ranges and previous labs. I would highlight out of range values so they were easy for other people to see. I also kept a tab for Gizmo's labs (more for my convenience so all the cat info was in one place).

It's looking very much like Kitty has kidney disease. If you've not seen it, Tanya's site is an incredible resource. You will want to take a look at the phosphorus level in what you're feeding your cat. You want as low a phosphorus level as possible. You might want to talk to the vet about a phosphorus binder. You may also want to look at the IRIS guidelines. They stage kidney disease and provide some guidelines for treatment. Did your vet check your cat's blood pressure? That's one test that should definitely be done.

Take a look at Tanya's info and the IRIS info. I'm surprised your vet isn't making more of an effort at treatment.

Yes she was diagnosed chronic kidney disease (CKD) on 5/2/2020. The vet only prescribed Hill's K/D dry and canned foods for her, but no medication so far.

She also eats WERUVA canned food with phosphorus DMB 0.7-0.8%.

The vet checked her blood pressure on 7/3/2020, and it was normal. So he didn't check the blood pressure this time. How often should I have her blood pressure checked. The vet said when cats are nervous in vet's office, they tend to have a higher blood pressure.

I have visited Tanya's site very often recently, but not the IRIS guidelines. Thank you for the information. I will certainly look at it.
