AMPS 144... stalling. If levels have risen in 20 minutes then we’ll shoot 1.75 units.

He was incredibly hungry at +9 and he licked the bowl clean after one pouch (of the food he loves). Up until now he’s been refusing the the ‘other’ foods I’ve been leaving down until +10,

AMPS today we have a relaxed Koz, but I think he’s hungry again.

That was interesting he had dropped at +9 overnight. I thought that might be happening. Some food around +9 is something he might need for a while.

I think you should be OK to give the 1.75 but let’s see if he comes up at all.
So glad he’s happy and relaxed. And hungry is good!

+12.25 144 again. We’re going to feed then shoot and will test at +1 and +2.

His poor ears are very sore.
Good plan. You are becoming an old hand at this!

Poor boys ears. Not sure if you can buy neosporin pain relief OINTMENT in the UK. We can’t here. But I got some online from the US. It helps the ears. But make sure it is pain relief ointment not cream.

He wasn’t interested in breakfast because I let him eat too much at +9. He’s been eating in excess of four pouches per day and I think that’s why he’s not interested in his PMPS meal, but he snacks at +1 or +2.

We shot anyway.

+1 140

Snacked 15 minutes before +1 and again after +1 (keeping snacks smaller).

Searched the FDMB for info on Neosporin in the UK and found some advice that Eliz had offered back in 2014. I haven’t been applying enough firm pressure to Kozmo’s ears after testing, so will do that each and every time from now on. Neosporin isn’t available here and there is no equivalent, but I think I’ve managed to find some - will find out tomorrow.

When I was testing a lot I used to use both ears and both sides of the ears. If you put a torch at the back of the ear you will see the vein that runs right around the ear. If you aim for between the vein and the edge of the ear you should get blood.
Yes firm pressure will stop bruising.
Any recent results for ketones?

That’s what we’re doing but don’t need a torch anymore.

Missed an earlier chance - will text the next one.

+3 81 - refused snack. Cerenia given. Will see if he snacks in 30 minutes unless advised not to. Will test again at +4

Perfect thanks :)
Hopefully we can start to do less testing soon....he’s not bouncing nearly as much now and if we can get him settled on the 1.75U dose, that should hopefully mean the AMPS won’t be as low and the testing less.
I think a small snack at +9 overnight plus a BG test to check he isn’t dropping too low is a good idea if you can manage it.
I see he has put on a bit more weight. That’s good!
Have you managed to catch a urine test yet?

+6 68 but he woke up from his sleep and had a decent snack - he wanted more but I politely told him no. He wasn't interested in food prior to that.

Oh! And while I was updating his SS just now, I turned around and saw him push our tiny dog away from her lunch. He got a lick in before I swooped in and picked him up. We normally watch him like a hawk while Tina is eating but I was distracted

We'll test again at +7 which is soon because Neil came home and is talking to me :)

Thanks for letting us know what to expect. Life has been 100% Kozmo for such a long time and he's going to have to let me out for fresh air and exercise soon.

I'll test again at +9 and feed him. It's funny because he woke me with a loud meow one minute before my alarm went off for this morning's +9. Normally, his automatic feeder closes at +10 but I shut it at +8 because of... well +9!:D

Neg ketones.
Here comes the cavalry!
Hi Nan. Doesn’t Kozmo look great?
Annie and Neil are doing a super job!
Hi Nan!

Have to say, I'm a little at a loss on suggestions for this shot. You haven't had a consistent dose of anything for a long time, so it's really hard to interpret the spreadsheet-- the depot has never had a chance to settle, so you're not really seeing the effects of any particular dose on the cycle where you shoot it.

If you test again in 15-20mins and he's gone up a lot, would you be comfortable shooting the 1.75?

Lantus is really good at producing "flat" cycles, especially when shooting green numbers like this, so it's not as risky as it might seem to shoot this number. In addition to that, the shot won't really take effect for a couple hours, and by then (if recent cycles are any guide) he'll likely be starting one of his (now) mini-bounces anyway from the greens.

Great, let's see where he is in a few minutes, then!

Are you well-stocked with strips, HC food, and plenty of :coffee: :coffee: :coffee: for the night if you shoot and he decides to go the dramatic route?

OK, I say go for it if you're up for it!

Although he did have a tiny snack, I don't think that would have had much influence on his BG going from 83-110 in that short time (unless it has some of that vegetable protein that Elizabeth was talking about!), at least not so much as to disguise downward movement (which is what we're mostly concerned about right now, shooting a falling number can be done but it's best done armed with all the info about the current dose).

Tricky, Kozmo!!!

I can't believe he pulled that switcheroo on you, but hopefully he'll just continue with his surf from today...

Wow, he really pulled a fast one tonight! Now I have to wonder if that 187 was a bad strip...

In any case, yup, definitely snack time. Still just LC for now, I think.

I guess I should mention that I was expecting him to ask for a dose reduction tomorrow by going under 50, after doing his usual mini-bounce from today. Perhaps he read my mind and is just in a hurry!

I’ve just been for my morning walk. I see Kozmo is keeping you on your toes. And a lower PMPS as well. That’s progress!
I agree with Nan he’s looking for a reduction soon. I think he’ll drop lower again this cycle. He tends to go up with a good feed then drops again.
