+5 76 (with a snack after). We'll keep testing until his levels start to rise.
You did a great job shooting an even lower number this morning......I’m proud of you,
Annie, you do have BOS not tennis balls! Kosmo is doing so well with your care, along with the awesome help from Bron and Nan!! And anyone I may have missed. Tina had a great lactose result also, and its great to hear it helped Kosmo:):cat:
Thank you for the encouragement ladies. I'm enjoying getting to know you all.

Re the Whiskas 7+ in gravy, this actually calculates as low carb, even though it contains 'cereals'...
Whiskas food labelling is a real pain because the info on their website is often different to the info on the packaging; there can be several lots of data around, and there is no way to know which is 'correct'....

Anyway, on the data Annie posted above (same as on Whiskas website) it comes out as 2.89% calories from carbs. However on Tesco's website data it comes out as 5.3% cals from carbs. Since it contains 'cereals' I strongly doubt that it is 2.89% cals from carbs, but I may well be wrong...
Incidentally, it also contains 'vegetable protein extract'. In sensitive kitties this can cause huge spikes in blood glucose. There have been a 'significant minority' of kitties on diabetes forums who've been adversely affected by it (my Bertie was one). But 'most' kitties seem to be unaffected.

The 'Gourmet Gold' in gravy ('casseroles', they may be called now) are around 25%.

BTW, that's a really stellar job you're doing, Bron and Annie. What stars you are! :joyful:

Hi Eliz it’s lovely to see (?) you again and thank you so much for your help.

The data I listed is the same as the actual boxes that we have. So I’m delighted that Kozmo is addicted to low carb wet food, yay! Not so good is that he won’t anything else, especially high carb Gourmet Gold in Gravy - essential hypo food! We’re going to try to introduce it to him somehow.

Thanks @Elizabeth and Bertie for that information. That’s really good to know. Kozmo seems quite carb sensitive or maybe it’s sensitive to that vegetable protein extract, as his +1 almost always shoots up quite a bit after the food. That’s very helpful when he has a low Preshot and we need to give the insulin! But not sure about it further down the track. What are your thoughts?

If there's a food spike after eating 'vegetable protein extract' then it may be that Kozmo is sensitive to it. ...I actually used foods with vegetable protein extract when Bertie dropped into low number situations because it was so reliable for raising blood glucose. Just 2 tsps of the stuff would raise his blood glucose by about 5mmol, typically. ...And I recall a UK member here years ago whose kitty in remission spiked up to 30 mmol after eating one pouch of food with veg protein extract (that was 'Felix As Good As It Looks'). ...Fortunately her kitty's blood glucose came down again and he was fine...
