The modification is that we reduce after a 60 at my vet's reqiest rather than a 90 in typical SLGS.I am pretty sure it is the 13th, at least in the America’s.
Paula nailed it, you are seeing the result of a bounce plus skipped dose. Those ugly numbers would hapoennwith any 8nsulin and that situation. Not sure what your modification is to SLGS, but standard version would have you reduce to 0.75 units.
Next time you see a lower preshot, try withholding food and stalling for 1/2 hour, then retest to see if he comes up to where you feel comfy shooting.
What has me confused is that he doesn't seem to hit a nadir and rise lately. He just keeps dropping even past his shot time. We are now at +10 and he's at 206 when he was in the mid 300s at +6. If he's still dropping in two hours as he has been lately, how do we know what to do? When we shot a dropping number a couple days ago, he hit 28.I am pretty sure it is the 13th, at least in the America’s.

All the time. Bounce breaking cycles often have later nadirs. I spotted Neko nadiring as late as +13 when that happened. If you can monitor tonight, reduce the dose, and shoot. Feed a little bit higher carb for dinner snacks if you are worried. When you saw the 28, that was after a flat blue cycle, completely different. What has me confused is that he doesn't seem to hit a nadir and rise lately. Have you seen this before?
Thanks, Wendy. By the time I just read this we had already shot 1u. We went back and forth between 1 unit and .75 and decided to go for consistency since we've reduced and skipped recently. 60 is the reduction point my vet wants. When she looked at the SS, she asked why I reduced after an 84. I told her the guideline is to reduce after 90. She said she didn't understand that concept when 84 is a healthy, normal number. She asked that I not reduce unless he goes below 60.What is your reduction point in your modified version of SLGS? The fact that he hit a green yesterday, in spite of the skip the day before makes me think he's getting tired of this dose.
Sure. He is in the 200s at +2, so I'm kinda glad we did a full shot. He's super happy tonight, purring like crazy.OK, could you put "reductions below 60" on the signature after the "modified SLGS"? I'm sure I've asked this before and forgotten.
Good news on the 9Lives!
