7/13 Maxi AMPS 357 LEVEMIR Question

With our acro cats, one tends to finish off a pen well before the 6 month mark. Levemir pen is 300 units - so 1 u twice a day would last 150 days which is about 5 months. If the acro cat is getting 6 u twice a day for a total of 12 u each day a pen would last about 25 days. A pack has 5 pens in a box.

Is Maxi starting to flinch with the Lantus?

Yes. Poor boy. Not badly, though, especially if he's distracted (by eating), but I worry about later. His dose keeps increasing so I guess it will sting more with higher doses.
Also, I am wondering if (hoping that) Levemir might be more effective for him than Lantus.
 
When Freckles started to flinch that's when I switched over to Levemir as well. Later nadir which meant getting used to shooting lower numbers but no more flinching. Freckles' numbers have been pretty good and we are currently at 6u down from 11.5 u.

I just looked at Freckles' nice numbers and noticed her 49, and that you shot at 49! I guess you have really gotten used to shooting at lower numbers!
You are fortunate to have such numbers with her acromegaly. May the good numbers continue!
 
Neko's good dose ranged quite a bit. At one point a pen (cartridge actually in Canada) would last not quite three weeks, other times it was good to the last drop 3 months later. I always started with a little more than her required dose in the syringe, so I could get rid of bubbles. Otherwise it would have lasted longer.

The 49 did get my attention, that's for sure! lol Freckles isn't one for big swings in numbers and with her appetite, there is no problem getting her to eat to bring up her numbers if need be.

Yes, we are lucky to have these kinds of numbers. If it wasn't for the good folks on this forum, I'd hate to see what her numbers may be (if she would even still be with me!). The advice that I received from my vet at the initial diagnosis of FD and acro was not very helpful nor informative to say the least!
