First hypo, really scared

I definitely will, going to be doing one in 30 minutes and I’ll do more from there either 30 minutes or an hour later depending on what he does.

Hes never had DKA, but he’s very private with peeing so using the meter was better for us than using sticks, LOL. He’s had some bouts in the 400s so I have just used it to keep an eye on ketone levels.

Thank you so much, that means the world to me. This has been so terrifying and I really had a meltdown over the 42 especially. I’m so grateful to everyone for hanging with us all this time. I’m still really on edge but praying we won’t have any more drops.
 
I know it sounds crazy and I feel a bit loony right now for sure but I’m going to be super careful with this new vial, I checked and the first time I used it was Thursday night. He had the 188 the next morning which was great, but I’m wondering if it is somehow hitting him harder than his previous vial.

I know what you mean, I got weak in the legs the first time Tyler dropped low. You are doing a great job, just keep testing like you said. We are all here checking in ok :bighug:

It’s 11PM now, he did have his shot late (8:30) this morning which has messed up my counting too (plus my own dumb brain) but that means he should be at +14.5, right? How can he still drop now? I don’t understand at all what’s happening
 
I’m so sorry, I didn’t see about the gravy when you first posted. It seems to be loading better now at least. I’m testing him again in a few minutes and will do the gravy then unless he’s had a big jump (I can hope, I’m out of my mind with worry. Every time I check him now I’m scared to even look, ugh)

I never thought I’d miss his purples and reds but I honestly really would welcome that bounce, that phrase that it’s better to be high for a day than low for a minute is suddenly that much more powerful for me. I would feel better with the 1U as long as he’s up enough, that’s a good idea.

You are doing a great job @Whitney and Jonas keeping your little man safe.
It is quite normal for the numbers to wobble up and down a bit, that is why we check so often in this situation. But remember that while you are testing the BG you are in control.
If the numbers are ever really low and he wont eat, get some honey on your finger and rub it on his gums.
When feeding a cat to bring him up into higher numbers only give a teaspoon or two at most each time as we don't want to fill them up as it could go on for a while and we need the cat to eat.

So where are we up to now....is the last number +14.5 66?

Hey Bron yes 66 was his last number.
He's been eating since @+5 this afternoon , HC, honey etc

That 66 was 20 minutes after 14.5... how do I note that? I’m not a math girl at all, that’s how I think I started messing up earlier when I was doing 3 checks an hour :facepalm: I’m about to do another check, praying for more of a rise.

I didn’t, thank you for telling me <3 I feel good with 30 minutes, it gives him a bit longer nap time (I know he’s EXHAUSTED from today) while not being so long I could miss a drop... praying there are NO drops since he’s had 3 rising numbers in a row, even if they’re in little increments.

The prozinc should be wearing off by now. It is scary the first time with low numbers especially when they don't respond as quickly as your like.
You have had your baptism by fire!
This is why we are always banging on about having ones hypo box full and ready with test strips, HC food and honey or karo. If you are testing and have the hypo box up and ready you are in control.

I truly couldn’t be more grateful for everyone, you are all angels. I really thought I was going to fall apart when I got that 42, especially after so many hours of this. I feel so bad, I know he had to feel awful and he’s so exhausted now. I just hope that he will only keep going up, I never knew the Prozinc could affect him this long.

Take a look at your SS does this seem right, it's hard for me to figure if the times are not in front of me
