Was on the elliptical, glanced at Jasper and noticed his breathing fast. Then tounge in and out. Drew blood. 213. Gave him some food. Seemed better, but noticed the tounge again. It is very hot and humid here in FL. Could it be heat or something else. His BG seemed ok. He can walk ok. Eating more food now. Breathing seems a little faster than normal.
 
Took him inside to a cooler room. He's cleaning himself. Seems ok. Will check in another 10-15.
 
Just keep an eye out to make sure it’s not happening all the time. Sometimes it’s the heat but if it lasts for too long a trip to the ER may be needed. Don’t mean to scare you, but that’s what Minnie did when she had her cardiac arrest episode. She was dealing with a lot already, but know under normal circumstances like no heat or exhaustion from activity, that indicates lack of oxygen. The one thing you can do to rule out heart issues is count his resting respiratory rate. Wait till he’s been asleep for at least 15 minutes, than count his breathing for 15 seconds and multiply by 4 to get his rate for a minute, or you can just count the whole minute. Anyway, you should get a number between 20- 30. Anything outside of that warrants a vet trip
 
Heart or heat? I don't know anything about heart issues.
Heat – move the cat to the coolest part of the house. A fan on a low setting will help. Wet the top of the head, the neck and scruff, and down the back and sides with a soaking wet cool facecloth. If you can get the cat to lie on a towel with an ice pack or a bag of frozen peas even for a few minutes. I'm sure there are more blood vessels on the belly. Cooling the blood cools the body.

This is a little what happened when we took him in and he got diagnosed last month. He seemed to be much better now. His heart rate is slower. His number has gone up. He seems happy. Gave him a little more pate. Was afraid he was hypo at first. Is it bad to give a little honey if you think he may need it if something like this happens?

Don't give honey if the blood glucose is not the reason. If you have a meter, test. If course of bg is low, give honey.

Yes panting to and from the vet is pretty normal too :)
